I wound up really liking FF13, FF13-2 was complete junk to me though.

Maybe they can save it with this one? Somehow I doubt it though :S

Wait, this isn't coming out until 2014? Haven't we been hearing about and seeing trailers for this game for like three years or something?

I don't think this is gonna resurrect this game...but I'll be happy if I'm wrong.

Oh my gosh so many outfits!

It took me a bit of playing to warm up to Final Fantasy 13, but once I did I really enjoyed it.

Final Fantasy XII-2 I really enjoyed from the beginning. I think it's a little misunderstood for being "another FFXIII game".

Gonna admit, Lightning Returns looks really cool and I'll probably pick it up too. D:

@umdesch4: they already have a Final Fantasy 14, it re-releases on Aug. 27th. They've even announced FFXV already.

Soooo I played XIII and I didn't like it too much. Never tried XIII-2, but I heard it was better than XIII. Can anyone clarify this and tell me how 2 was better than the first? Also, this seems neat, but do you JUST play as Lightning?

It's coming out AFTER the next-gen consoles hit? Man, I thought this was coming out this year. Huh...that's pretty interesting.

I am looking forward to this, still feeling a little weird about only playing as one character, but I liked the first two so I'm sure I'll like this too.

Also is that equipment changing her looks or is there just a fuckton of dlc costumes?

Lightning's a decent character and a pretty lady, but I still don't see how something can be a Final Fantasy game without a party, no matter what outfit she's wearing.

I really enjoyed FF13 and I enjoyed 13-2 for the most part (I liked the story for the most part, but the 100% ending totally ruins Caius' character). I'm glad they're still experimenting a bit with this series though.

I'm excited for this game. It looks not terrible. I like the costumes. Final Fantasy XIII was not THAT bad, and XIII-2 was better, so I'm hoping this keeps the series heading in a positive direction.

I really do wonder how well this game will do? I think a lot of core gamers are souring on Square Enix and Final Fantasy games, so each time one come out it is interesting to see how well it sells and where. I really think this one will do poorly in North America unless by some miracle it reviews extremely well - I mean 10s and 9.5s....so I mean it would have to review spectacularly.

I'm more interested in how people take the game then the game itself.

Actually, I have no interest in playing the game myself.

They charge way too much for the outfits. Should just come in packs, or god forbid be complimentary.

@themanwithnoplan: This is the end of the trilogy, so once this drops, you're free to look forward to FFXV.

If I had to make a guess, I'd assume that @ptys was using the XIII-2 DLC prices as a reference. It seems like a solid idea, but the outfits in this game actually have an impact on gameplay, so I'm sure that'll affect how much SE sells it for. I'm fairly positive that the DLC will be reasonably priced (unless SE pulls a Capcom).

As far as the actual game goes, I'm looking forward to it. XIII-2 made a lot of improvements over XIII, so we can only hope that the trend continues in the future. The premise has potential, Fang is back, and the gameplay looks better than the other games in the series, so I'll take all of that as a good sign.

C'mon Square Enix! Get some good feelings going before FFXV comes out!

Yeah I was going by the FF13-2 price as they're like $6 a pop if I remember correctly? Would be nice for them to open it up and have all costumes at an affordable price.

Even if this is "good" I can't see myself playing it without finishing the other two, something I'm very doubtful I'll ever do. At this point I just want to see them move on from XIII so I might be properly interested in a FF again.

XV looks like it could be cool.

I feel like I would be so far behind on the story by now that i'm sure if I could play this one. And I think the number of outfits come from them being semi customizable.

I dunno wtf is up with the outfits, but they definitely learned from their mistakes last time around. Maybe this one will be even closer to good haha

The outfits are basically job classes, if I understand right.

@ptys: After doing some digging around, I noticed that the DLC prices were something like this:

$3.00 for Costumes ($1.49 on PSN as of this post)

$1.00 for Weapons ($1.00)

$3-5.00 for Additional Missions/Side-Story DLC

The $3.00 per costume is a bit on the pricey side of things, but if they bundle them together, I could see it working out. Then again, I'm fairly positive that most of the costumes will be available in-game; when costumes are a huge part of the combat, it'd be criminal to lock them up behind a paywall.

Ah well that would make more sense. I was thinking it was like the DLC for XII-2 except turned up to 11.
