Any chance a new version will be uploaded with better audio mix?

We recorded it straight to a single file so unfortunately this is all we've got. We were lucky to get video feed and four mics, production is a lot! This was almost going to be a podcast.

Maybe someone could add subtitles if they're able to suss out everything that one of the brothers was saying (sorry, I wasn't sure who's mic was quiet, I don't think they mentioned who was who in this video).

Seem like a great couple of guys, and they made a great game. Well done on getting them on, on the couch and asking them great questions!

I hope the under construction thing means you guys are going to come back to this video and fix the audio, but if/when you do, I'm excited to see what they have to say!!

Me too, but from what Brad said, that seems unlikely in which case "Under Construction" is misleading. Unless someone is able to otherwise isolate the voices from the game audio and just boost that, but that sounds difficult.

This was great. One thing though, how could you not ask what was in the cups?

I find Cuphead to be an amazing game to watch and hear, but dreadful to play. I don't like anything about its gameplay. It feels just bad to me. I'm currently on the second island and I'm seriously considering just uninstalling the game. Nothing about the gameplay is strong enough to keep me playing, and the art style alone, while great, is not what I come to video games for.

So...what you're saying is you don't like run and gun games like Contra and Gun Star Heroes, because that's what this is, and it's a really well put together version of that. There is nothing bad about the game play, you clearly just don't like run and guns. Probably a better way to frame it than trying to play the game play off as bad, which very few people are going to agree with.

Firstly, I always love it when people who collect get together and hash out some rare/old game talk. Also, dig the stories about the garage sale finds, etc. Secondly, those guys seemed super humble and awesome. I can't wait to see whatever they work on next. Good interview duders.

Like Brad, I was surprised at the way this game took shape.

No experience in development or professional art training, secondary focus on graphics, emphasis on gut instinct over heavy iteration; would not have expected any of those things to be the case. These guys and the entire Cuphead team must have a flabbergasting (not a word I use lightly!) amount of drive and talent.

Oh man I was going to wait for a good recording to be uploaded. Too bad if there's nothing that can be done.

This is a fascinating video. Some really surprising, interesting info about the development. Like everyone, I'm shocked the game didn't start with the aesthetic. The Moldenhaur bros both seem really cool. I'd love to see more of these sorts of features, this was great.

@bordering: This struck me as weird too. My initial assumption was that maybe he fell victim to an older brother rebinding controls but they don't even save! Strange indeed.

Definitely do more conversations like this when special games come out. Fascinating to get more background on this and the Witness

Really enjoy these developer sit downs, shame the audio wasn't great on this one.
