Outlast's Whistleblower DLC Looks Appropriately Unnerving

Please be just as scary. Also a little less dongs....or more? Surprise me.

Hm, I was expecting this to be a little cheaper than $9.

Maybe don't stream a HORROR game, making it entirely impossible to be immersed in the game, then straight up call it a disappointment. Daylight is exactly what it claims to be, a horror GAME.

I'm not going to disagree with the notion that streaming a game to an audience makes it more difficult for the game to get under a player's skin, but plenty of games have managed to do that--Outlast is one, in fact. Plus, I didn't stream Daylight! I recorded the game offline and in the dark, exactly the way I usually would play a horror game. There are structure problems with Daylight that cheapen its ability to scare. But I'm curious to hear what you like about it. Can you elaborate?

Ahhh, this must be the horror game everyone was talking about that was made with the Unreal 4 engine!

I thought that was a poor trailer, maybe it did something for people who have played 'Outlast'.

I have played about 40 minutes of Daylight and I find it extremely scary. Although I do agree that it's kinda repetetive. But I like it so far. The writing is very well done.

Also looking forward to Whistleblower like crazy.

So far I think Outlast was more enjoyable for me than either of the Amnesia games.

The ending to Outlast left me pretty cool. It was the least creepy or scary part of the entire game. Hopefully this shies away from that quite a bit.

I didn't mind the ending. I wasn't a big fan of the more paranormal stuff, but I thought the sleek hallways covered in viscera were just as unsettling as the filthy asylum rooms.

I liked Outlast. Perhaps not as unnerving as Amnesia, but still a pretty fun(?) game. Had a problem with basically covering every single hallway with blood and viscera though. It definitely looks the part, has one of the best night-vision filters I've seen in a game, and there was a really nice 'physicality' to the main character; it really felt like the player character occupied a space in the game world.

I'm glad to see it's still got a nudity warning. While I telegraphed just about everything in the original and felt kinda bored, the nude men wanting me and my delicious fresh parts was something new and kinda cool. At least in a gaming sense.

Outlast will forever hold a rotten, decaying, place in my heart for the fun times it gave me and a couple buddies one weekend. Running around yelling and hollering in the dark asylum was fun as hell... After the fact!

Shit, I really need to go back and play though Outlast. One of those games I picked-up and didn't really give a chance. This DLC looks just as appealing as the original game, so maybe I can get through it before this hits.

I hope this will scare me more than the main game. I mean Outlast had its moments, but overall I felt it paled in comparison to the likes of Amnesia: The Dark Descent which had me stressed and on edge almost the whole way through despite the fact that I was simultaneously streaming it. Loved the atmosphere though, so I'll probably pick it up just for more of that.
