This Quick Look does a good job of showing how this game is often "Sneak up to this place without being seen and then run in and kill everyone with guns."

We don't see as many female protagonists in games, nice to see them changing the formula a bit on the main character in AC.

Please GB Crew, in future have Vinny in the driver's seat for the AC quick looks. I can't watch another one of these where Brad is fumbling around interminably.

If Vinny played in the exact same manner, no one would complain.

I don't mind watching Brad play. I understand he has tunnel vision so he sees games differently than the rest of us. That gives him a disadvantage in character action games like this.

ahahahaha that's great.

Also, part of the problem with watching brad play games is that, as he makes mistakes and doesn't notice things, he tends to blame the game or something else that isn't him. Of course sometimes there are issues with the game, but I think vinny tends to be a lot more honest about that and about when he makes a mistake vs the game, whereas brad assumes everything is something or someone else's fault. Though that can be entertaining in its own way.

I think its just harder for brad to talk and play, where Vinny could talk about anything and play anything. Not saying it looks easy, I have a hard time playing tf2 and talking all while not throwing my mouse across the room. talking, or more so, holding a conversation dose not look easy, while playing a game.

Yeah that makes sense. Clearly hes not just universally bad at video games, since reputedly hes pretty good at some, and from the sounds of it on the podcast hes decent at dark souls (lautrec is not an easy fight that early in the game if you aren't expierienced, and you can't block his shotels)

I wonder if the Ubisoft higher-ups back in Quebec are as mortified by their cast's French accents as they should be.

I've always been interested in this game merely because it has a non-white non-male protagonist and in the gaming industry that sadly makes it more interesting that most other games.

That doesn't make it interesting, different the most but not interesting.

Variety is the spice of life, friend.

Man, I really like Aveline. I hope this isn't the last game she's in because she's really great once she gets her whip and a nice machete. I want her to be in a game with fun environments. She deserves that.

Vinny doesn't though, so your comment is pretty weak.

Yeah it was frustrating.... I haven't played the game before and know for a FACT you can fight as the lady... in fact you're still super OP in combat as a lady you just don't have access to all the abilities.

It's a common complaint but Brad is effin horrible at this game. Having just played this on Vita and AC4 on PS3 I've done a fair amount of the combat and climbing so I almost yelled at my screen a couple of times

Brads great at some games, not so on others... I usually don't watch the AC videos on Giantbomb as I've played those games so much that I know everything there is to know and do. I appreciate the video though, I was thinking of buying this. Now, not so much.

Seems like a better protagonist then Connor in AC3, but same bad mission structure and level design.

Yeah Ubisoft still has a long way to go with spicing up their missions.

Not the first QL where Jeff starts to get impatient with Brad.

My favorite quick looks are where Jeff realizes Brad is both doing terrible at the game and ruining the video and tries really hard to politely get Brad to actually play the game they are supposed to be showing.

Also if there was ever a quick look where Ryan was missed this had to be it. Assassin's Creed quick looks were always his thing and he actually played every entry so his absence from this lead to a pretty severe lack of knowledge about series mythology. I haven't even played one since Brotherhood and I could tell you all of the story and gameplay errors Brad was making. And Vinny trying to make him understand how the climbing system works was just painful. Ryan was always great at making these videos flow so even when he was misinformed he at least kept things moving. Jeff and Vinny have a lot harder of a time controlling Brad in these quick looks.

Liberation's mission design was not great but at least this version doesn't have poorly implemented front/back touch stuff so it shouldn't be nearly as frustrating as the Vita version could get.

Aveline's story is kinda neat, it is super unique to be playing a black female character in a historical setting that deals with slavery and it does some mildly interesting things with those ideas.

All the character models look rebuilt, the environments look about the same polycount but with better textures and a better draw distance. The consistently higher framerate is nice, never really got in the way of gameplay in the Vita version but it could get pretty framey, especially in New Orleans.

I don't really have any desire to replay this story but maybe I'll grab this on a Steam sale or something.

From watching the video, the difficulty doesn't seem high enough, yet when the game says you fail it feels unjust. I also wish all AC's had fight combos and more stealth options. Still, this one is fairly impressive considering it runs on a handheld.

Alligator eggs. I'm so hungry!!! Love the accents, also. French wemen and swamp water makes me so horny.

I agree with everything stated here.

@noelveiga: This game came out a longass time ago, and wasn't good then, so who gives a fuck? If anyone was really waiting for an HD port of it, when it was just a portable AC3 with a different story, they're dumb.

The graphics look pretty good for a HDified handheld game to me. After enjoying AC IV so much I could see myself playing this once I could grab it for $5 in a sale.

Hmm, this looks pretty good. Doesn't seem like a particularly watered down Assassin's game. I'll check it out before jumping into 4!

You're right, because that would be uncharacteristic of Vinny and I wouldn't complain the first time he did it or even if he does it every now and then. However, if Vinny keeps doing it at the same frequency that Brad does it, then yes I would complain. Also this is the first time I've voiced my opinion about Brad's QL. You can only take so much frustration and I bet with each video that Brad keeps fumbling around, it will bring another person over the edge.

Maybe Brad mentally blocks every part of the horrendous UI Ubisoft puts in everyone of their games. I can certainly understand why someone would do that. Of course it makes simple tasks with clear markers on screen more difficult to accomplish.

Avatar image for beeezer

Can I just point out that of the three playing, both Jeff and Brad have not either finished AC3 or for that matter played it. What the hell? I've played most of the series (yes, and suffered some of their nuances!) but did they draw straws? Like a lot of the arguments in the Game of the Year podcasts, these guys don't even finish half the games they play. I know that for review purposes only one person should suffice, but god don't be a dick about something your ignorant about. (ahem, JEFF!!!)

How can an American not know what year the Revolution was?

Also, man Brad is so bad. Those tailing missions are super easy.

You are giving the average American education far too much credit. Admittedly, I have forgotten a lot of stuff about American history, but some people are completely oblivious. I think most people don't know much beyond the Bill of Rights and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Unless I'm misunderstanding which part you're referring to, I'm pretty sure Brad and co. know when the American Revolution was. Brad didn't play AC3 and didn't know that it's literally focused on the American Revolution and thought that AC3 was maybe just set sometime in the 18th century. Aside from that, they just weren't clear on whether Liberation coincides with the events of AC3 or not, since Brad seemed to think the game might be taking place in the 1760s.

Though yeah, I'm pretty sure they were overcomplicating climbing that tree to fill in the map.

Brad is a pretty cool guy. That said, I wanted to jump in, take the controller from his hands and show him how you play AC.

PS: Brad sucks at games.

Sometimes a quick look should be handed off to someone who isn't Brad. Misinformation and misunderstanding doesn't always make for an entertaining quick look. Giantbomb still produces some of the best gaming content regardless, but let's not take the Brad meme much farther.

Subtract knowledge of around 80% of the Bill of Rights, and you're getting pretty close. The Deparment of Education is a real exemplar of success. I'm very confident that the $88,000,000,000 spent on K-12 last year will result in even greater achievement. Potentially, the average student might even learn more than the opening ten words of the First Amendment.

I'm not sure where in this video anyone would get the impression they don't know when the American Revolution was. All I heard was a discussion about when this game was set vs AC3.

If it's because Brad said 1765, that is when the game takes place. (1765-1777)
