Random PC Game: Crusader: No Remorse

These Random PC Games are my favorite new feature on the site.

That  sounds like runway music at a fashion show.   So goddamn bizzare.  Hahahaha.

One of my favourite games of all time.

Soundtrack is still also, one of my favourites of all time.

Here's hoping EA smells the money in a sequel for this :)

Dancebot is the best bot.

I love how excited Vinny gets from explosions. "Blow em up again!"

I sometimes wonder if he's a closet pyromaniac, but as long as he doesn't set any forest fires, let him express himself through video forever.

I remember buying this game and it running shit on my 486 dx2/66 with 8 megs of ram.

OG origin games yeah!!! They should totally dust off some wing commander for the next one!

I remember being a kid playing the demo of the sequel and having a tough time with the control scheme. Good times.

They've should've tracked down an old Gravis Gamepad to play this game in true retro style.

Weird, I was just thinking of Fade to Black when Vinny mentioned it. It's funny, as in genre terms it's nothing like either of those games, but something about it evokes them. I think it's the gameplay mechanics being built around the detailed animation systems, the high level of interactivity, and the 'stand on the spot and rotate' shooting of Fade to Black.

(Fade to Black is a very bad game by modern standards, but it was pretty immersive for its day).

It's funny that Dave mentions the SNES was happening during this time, which I completely missed out on. When I think back to the mid-90's all I remember playing was PC games. Crusader man, so damn good.

Crusader: No Remorse has never been this good.

Oh man, the jumping animation from Ultima 8, and the interaction cursor icon from Ultima 7.

I remember everyone hated the jumping in Ultima 8 so much they had to patch in new controls.

Oh hell yes.

My favorite weapon in this game was that plasma gun that melts dudes!

Wow, this game looks like a ton of fun.

No Remorse

Brings back great memories. I must have been 11 when I played this back when it came out. Totally forgot about it.

Is Vinny calling it oatmeal because he's colour blind?

The best part of watching videos with vinny in them, are the crazy names he gives things. Then, like twenty minutes later, he'll refer to the thing by the crazy name he made up while referencing some other thing he renamed, as if everyone calls it by that. Like the toxic sludge is oatmeal, so the platform is an oatmeal smoother, and you better remember that in a half hour.

Even Dave's like, "Huh?"

It's as if every video adds a few new terms to the English language, only used in one specific context.

I played a ton of this and No Regret. The best part was how they used the isometric perspective to hide rooms and secrets!

Love this game but the sequel is so much better. And if they did an XBLA remake I'd be down as long as it has the music, the fmv, and the violence.

Awesome! I love the Crusader games, I still have the original CD's for both of them in my drawer.

Loved this video and loved the Crusader games when they came out :) Thanks Vinny and Dave, this was awesome :) Even though the last ten mins were kinda grueling...

I really enjoyed the two Crusader games and it is a true shame it got cut short leaving you with a cliff hanger at the end of No Regret, but no follow up to end it.

I remember No Regret's box contained an ad for the third game which was never released or even previewed. I always thought this was really odd. Did I just imagine this or did others have this ad in their copy as well?

According to Warren Spector, EA currently has rights to Crusader. Maybe they'll reboot it for XBLA/PSN some day?

Does anyone remember Meat Puppet? It was a really terrible rip-off of this series that came to PSX and PC. Would love to see that one on "Random PC Game" next.
