The voice actor for Samus just bugs me for some reason. I just always pictured Jennifer Hale as the voice of Samus. 
 
Also, I find it funny that they completely Ignore the Prime series.

Im reminded of a chozo lore from Metroid Prime:

The hatchling walks among us. Are these dreams? Memories? Foretellings? Time and reality swirl together like estuary waters, and we Chozo know not what to believe. She appears as ghostlike as the Chozo, but at times the mists clear.We see her wounded eyes, and remember the child we found so long ago. What has she become, this Newborn? Ok people...first off this is SAMUS ARAN we're talking about, not a freakin cheerleader...she's a loner in space all the time and a bounty hunter, the voice fits PERFECTLY...sorry but i have no idea what you'd expect her to sound like cause this is spot on to me

and second, it skipped the metroid prime story because that is it's own story really...it will have NOTHING to do with Other M...phazon, dark samus, or metroid prime are not in other M, so idk why they should have to cover it when it's story will have no meaning to other M

Nobody plays Metroid games for the plot, so recapping it is kind of a waste of time - and coincidentally, most of the cutscenes in Metroid Other-M also look like a waste of time. Thick, cheesy, anime melodrama in spades.

Incidentally, this voice actress for Samus sounds like she's about to fall asleep.

Pretty cool how they integrated the new with the old in this video. But holy shit, the voice acting is terrible and if anyone says "baby" again I will paint the wall with my own brains.

This really peaked my interest for this game. I already had some interest in it because I like the metroid games, but there's some real nice attention to detail being shown here.

You think if we complain enough they will replace her with Stephen Merchant or someone?  Voice issues aside, that was pretty neat.

Deadpan delivery aside, I enjoyed this refresher

That SOS codename has to be the stupidest ever. Hate to say Nintendo but you forgot a hell of a lot of Metroid games between the SNES & now. Wtf happened to all the events that happened in those games Nintendo/Team Ninja????

I grew tired of the prime series after I completed the first. I'm actually excited about this one! Finally it's back to the original story.

So... Metroid Prime never happened?  Ah well, at least now I know the basics of the Metroid story.

I don't mind the montonous voice, but I would really like there to be some confidence behind Samus' voice.  She's a creepy space loner, sure, but she's also the best at what she does... she sounds way too timid here.

I kind of dig the voice acting.  It sounds lifeless yes, but perhaps intentionally so?  Cold and broken, and separated like something traumatic and horrible has happened to her but she's trying to still exist.  Maybe I'm just giving them more credit than is due though :p 

If samus had something emotionally scarring happen to her wouldn't it make sense for her to, I don't know, have some EMOTION in her voice!? Just because she has had little social contact outside of the Galactic Federation doesn't make it believable that she would just talk in complete monotone, because it's simply human nature to have inflection and expression when we speak.
 
I don't know if I can get used to Samus' VA or the awful scripting but at least the game itself looks good.

I don't know I kind of like the voice acting....  But it sounds familiar, didn't we have a voice like this in the beginning of Terminator 2?

Seriously... 
The only reason people comment so much on the voice-acting is because the GB-crew drew attention to it. 
I doubt many would have notice otherwise...  
 
And considering the character's lone lifestyle - the voice-acting is probably quite fitting. 
 
I'm a fan of the series and I'm looking forward to this - but I will of cause hold off and hear what reviews has to say about it.

Super Metroid is still one of the best games of all time.

It's quite monotonic but I really don't care. It fits in this situation, in my opinion she's just thinking with herself instead of telling it to someone. 
 
At least it isn't as bad as people seem to think, that general opinion might be because of the Bombcast this week.

The voice acting seems to fit the character, honestly. My thanks to the person that posted that Chozo Lore from MP1 as it is a really good example of why Samus would seem so lifeless. Even the people that raised her felt unsure at times if she was even truly alive. It does drive me a little crazy that she keeps saying "The Baby". How about some pronouns?
 
To reiterate: The Metroid Prime trilogy comes between Metroid I and II and is fairly self contained with little to no influence on the story arc seen in the video. I guess this is why they don't mention it. Metroid Fusion is the last in the series, since Samus gets messed up by the 'X", gets her gooey Fusion Suit  (and permanently so, I believe), and the navigation computer is actually an AI based off a character you'll meet in Other M. Since it hasn't happened yet, there's no reason to go into that in the video. Zero Mission was a remake of the original Metroid I on the NES with some extra Zero Suit fun at the end, so technically they covered it in the video.
