The thumbnail looked like Link's eyes from Wind Waker and that alone is scary.

Thumbnail reminds me of Deep Red. That always makes me happy.

Maybe it's because it was late, I just watched Brad smash his head against Volgarr the Viking for 3 hours and I was delirious but I was DYING laughing during that whole Kraken thing. I have no idea why it was so funny to me.

I loved that you stuck through the whole Kraken experience Patrick, thanks for taking one for the team because there's no way in hell I could ever endure that.

Anybody mind giving me a couple highlights to watch (timestamps would be much appreciated)? As much as I want to watch the whole thing, I just won't have the time to watch another 2-hour Rift session for a while.

I wonder how many people played through Condemned and never realized there was an execution system.

It really is a shame that we will never see a Condemned 3. Condemned 1 and 2 were the only games I have played that really frightened me. Especially the first one.

I think an HP Lovecraft inspired Occulus Rift horror game would be cool.

A skeleton playing a bone as a flute was the best intro for any show in history.

I thought Condemned was an awful game. It could be because I played Condemned 2 first due to not having a 360, and I played it in 2010 with good looking games like Uncharted 2 already behind us, but when I did get a 360, I thought this game looked bad and played bad.

I think I held my breath during the entire Kraken demo. Fuck.

Also, hell yeah Rebar Bent! It's a bit of a podcast meme, since Rebar Bent is apparently one of Jeff's favorite game weapons, iirc.

Condemned is an awesome game, finally got around to playing the second one a couple of weeks ago. Also pretty great, sad there probably won't be a third.

My guess for the interview that Patrick mentioned at the top is someone from The Blair Witch Project. That'd be pretty neat

Now I just want to watch The Fear Gauntlet again!

Sure, the sound got deafening, but I felt like it was obvious that it was just tension-building music but the game wasn't going to actually reveal what the eyes belonged to. Plus at one point the Kraken eyes texture passed in front of a rock surface and you could clearly see the eyes are just a black rectangular texture and there is no creepy body or whatever to go along with them. Patrick looked visibly shaken, but without being the person actually wearing the Oculus, it just seemed kinda laughable (maybe the Kraken demo bugged out or something, I don't know or really care).

Also why the fuck is that thing called "Kraken", when there are no squid tentacles, and the thing you eventually stare at is clearly some kind of sea ghost or some bullshit, since squid eyes sure as fuck don't look like that.

I am so fucking done with that thumbnail fuck those eyes.

Hey man, I'm a big fan of the site and I'm super pumped about the Oculus Rift (amongst other things). I just became a premium member recently and I just wanted to say I've been enjoying these videos, and that your bravery and sacrifice is greatly appreciated.

@bisonhero: Wasn't a rock. It was clearly the Kraken. Had tentacles and everything. Don't know about the eyes.Maybe they were just a reference to which way was forward, but that wouldn't explain why they zoom in at the end. Don't really know what was up with the eyes. Maybe you see the Kraken more if you look around which Patrick wasn't really doing.

Those eyes are, if I'm interpreting things right, the encroaching sensation of death by drowning, growing ever closer as time drags agonizingly onward until they're right up on you. And then blackness.
