I thought this looked interesting from the first trailer and it keeps looking better. DMC is cool but they just need to get rid of those archaic Capcom tendencies for shitty checkpoints and stiff environments.

Really glad they decided to reboot the series. All they were doing in the past with each new game was adding one more silver haired Dante look alike. You like Dante? Here's Virgil! Still like Dante? Here is...some kid that kinda looks like him. Talk about being creatively bankrupt.

Aside from Dante having white hair and some of the females having huge boobs Devil May Cry was never about "dumb anime shit"

Oh and it's unlikely this new DMC will surpass DMC3, whether it's emo Dante or white haired Dante, DMC3 was just that good. Peak of the series so far, after Heavenly Sword I just don't have much hope for this one, but hey it doesn't look all bad right now.

How can you say they were being creatively bankrupt? Did you even play as Vergil? He played vastly different to Dante, although Nero was shit.

and no, that's not all they were doing, as DMC2 was poor, and DMC3 was fantastic. So evidently they went back to the drawing board between 2 and 3, the addition of Vergil's hair colour wasn't all they did to improve the game.

Why do I care about this? 'Cause Ninja Theory is making it!

Then again, everyone was thinking that with DMC3 before it was released, saying that no other DMC game will ever topple the first one after the horror that was the second one... who knows, it could be like that.

Upon hearing they were doing DMC3 in HD I could care even less. Plus with this new game they've just given Dante the Devil Bringer abilities Nero had, just in the form of a sword instead of Neros' arm.

But still, I liked some of the crazy that was in DMC3, I think it's a mistake changing developers, even if DMC4 was pretty average. I really didn't like Heavenly Sword either.

The moves are so slow and they look more like god of war then Devil may cry.

Also why can he fly. Dante could stay in air somewhat, but not push him up like that with a simple attack you had to have skill and time your jumps instead of a simple attack.

Ahhh yes, that's what I want I want in my DMC games, long straightforward platforming sections!

I'm not looking forward to this reboot at all. The only DMC game this one might be better than is the second one and even then I'm not sure. Hell, I have yet to see Dante fighting any more than 3 guys at once in this game and it just looks so damn slow.

No weird Slipknot style metal going on? NOT INTERESTED.

I am just going be hopeful. I really want to play a new DMC game and I hope it feels like that.

I thought this actually looked pretty neat. The original trailer was pretty cool, so I might give this a shot. I was never a huge huge fan of DMC, though I do own the first three games. I've not bothered to sit down and play through them all, though.

Kinda underwhelming.

The game looks cool in spite of the Dante redesign. I'm still kind of griping about that, not because I loved the old Dante but because it feels pointless and none of their reasons given sound all that convincing. The actual new design doesn't look great either. More of a sidestep than a step up.

This strikes me as one of those set pieces that looks awesome the first time you see it but becomes super annoying when you have to play through it 3 more times.

Benefit of the doubt though, I really just want Ninja Theory to make a quality game.

The world morphing stuff is pretty neat and the combat from other vids looked good, now if they can just show an epic boss fight of some kind I'm sold!

Remove the name and it would be very interesting to hear people's opinions of this.

I'm not the biggest Ninja Theory fan as I've found their titles' gameplay to be mediocre, but they've made it clear to me (in a mere two games) that they excel at every other aspect of development. If this is the game where they manage to really nail gameplay, it could be something special.

Was slightly sceptical about this game, more about DMC series' relevancy than a change in character design, but the more i see of this game the more i like it, granted it looks pretty linear but there was stuff like that in the original series.

I agree. That's going to be my mentality from now on I think. Every trailer I see for this game looks better than the last. The combat looks like a step up from both Heavenly Sword and DMC 4 (which, regardless of how you felt about the game had the smoothest combat even though Dante's arsenal was decreased). I could care less how Dante looks because I'm going to be staring at the back of his head for 8-12 hours and not really on his face or hair. To be honest, I think he looks cool and so does the gameplay.

Man, I hope the combat is nothing like anything they have done before and something like Devil May Cry or even Bayonetta.

Game might be worth renting but I'm really surprised, not that they picked a different way to show Dante, but that they made him look so average & uninteresting that nobody will be able to recognize him.

@buzz_killington: The character design is by far way low on the list when it comes to issues regarding this game and Ninja Theory. Don't assume fans of the series are only pissed off about the redesign of Dante. Nearly everything I've seen so far about this game has turned me off towards it.

What if a game series you really enjoy was all of the sudden handled by a completely different developer whose history in the genre was mediocre? Of course you'd be turned off by it.

I like what I see. On a side note, this is the most Unreal Engine-y looking game since Enslaved.

@XChairmanDrekX: I agree with you. It's one thing to develop this game, and it aggravates me more when Ninja Theory says that we the fans will "secretly like it." and all this wannabe auteur crap. If NT wants to create a game with a storyline, then write the script. Leave the development to Capcom.

I cannot believe that Capcom had to send one of their classic series get re-birthed in favor for them (and 150 of their employees) to work on Dragon's Dogma (Yikes).

@buzz_killington: I am a fan of Devil May Cry. I have not played Heavenly Sword so I can't pass judgement on that, but from what I understand the gameplay aspects of it were interesting but definitely not the high point.

I played Enslaved and let me tell ya, that is one of the worst games I have ever had the displeasure of playing. Aside from 1-2 instances of great story sections/cutscenes the rest of that game is absolutely terrible.

So a developer that hasn't really gotten the gameplay/combat aspects of a game down (From playing Enslaved they haven't even come close to it) making a game in a game series that is known for great combat.....

I mean I can't exactly be excited about the game, I am carefully optimistic at the moment.

Also seeing that ghost thing tell you " Here I found the path, let me mark it for you." gave me shivers from all the permutations of it that Trip would say... I try to forgot Enslaved as much as possible.

This game looks great and Enslaved was fantastic. It just wasn't a combo combat heavy game. The best parts were the puzzle like segments of figuring out how to take out gun wielding enemies. That shit was great. Hopefully they can bring some of that tactical approach to the furious combat of DMC.

That was just outright slow and irritating to watch.

While I think the game looks nice in terms of aesthetics (aside from the new Dante), this segment in particular looks like it's one of those parts which are 'fun to look at yet boring to play through' since it's nothing but walking forward followed by a series of pretty much identical air dashes and grapples. To be fair, this is probably an early part in the game where it's trying to teach you to use these traversal techniques and it is subject to change so maybe this segment will get something more interesting in terms of actual gameplay for the release.
