The First Look at a New Era of King's Quest

I do hope it's punishing like the classic adventure games, but I won't get my hopes up. At least this can't be as bad/casual as Telltale's latest games.

So Patrick Stewart is the new narrator? And it seems you have direct control. You can definitely see a couple of Sierra-like death animations in there. Also, how remake-y is this? If that's Graham, is that Graham finding the mirror for the first time? That sure is a dragon in that cave with treasure and a mirror in it that looks magic as hell... But the narrator talks about a tale "you haven't heard before". Does that mean this is not Graham? Or at least not Graham the first? Or is it a "all you knew about KQ1 is wrong, here's the real story" kind of Maleficent deal?

I'm... cautiously expectant here. I still don't feel I know what this game is and other than "it all looks like cheap Telltale animation" I can't tell if it seems like it'll be good or not, either.

At times I like the art style, but for the most part it looks a lot like the Telltale Walking Dead adventure game art style. Let's back off on the heavy black lines shall we.

I have no nostalgia for this series but I'm curious to try it out anyway.

@unastrike@drewbert This trailer is running like absolute shit on my PC though, even when I load it progressively first. All Gamespot videos do this as well for some reason (despite not having an option for progressive loading). Anyone know what's up with that?

I dig the color palette, but I'm not so sure about the art design. It's a wait-and-see for me.

I really hope there's some sense of this being an open world adventure game, like the originals. I'll be irritated, to say the least, if it's just a pseudo-plaformer Brothers knock-off with added QTE sections.

Also, while I can excuse the young version of him being scrawny, if the game shows old King Graham, he better be built as fuck.

Everyone here has gotten into gaming - PC Gaming - from a first game that clicked. You got your first computer, and realized, wow this could be something ... entertaining and amazing and interactive and ... mine. Decades flashed before my eyes when I played my first Sierra game (and first quality computer game) - this box in my bedroom could entertain me more than the box in the living room. This box in my bedroom could take me places.

Before Doom and Quake for me, there were the Sierra adventure games. I realize now there is a time, place and age component - anyone else who remembers Sierra fondly was just there at that time and in that (mental) place. The Sierra adventure games were simply captivating. Anyone else who has tender memories of early 90's Sierra games, I am your brother.

King's Quest VI, Space Quest IV, Quest for Glory III ... represent

This looks more like a puzzle plattformer then an adventure game.

It's 2014, and there's an award show where people are cheering for King's Quest and Roberta Williams, and it's great.

Looks like a reboot/remake of the first game, that's pretty cool. I honestly have no idea what I want from a new King's Quest.

King's Quest was one of the worst designed adventure games series ever. You could screw yourself out of winning and not know for HOURS. Not interested in this in the slightest

Is it just me or does this trailer look incredibly bad? This makes it look more like a shitty platformer than an old point'n'click. It looks like a reboot of Dragon's Lair from the trailer footage.

That artstyle is horrendous.

This looks like a platformer. Because the last time they changed genres for a King's Quest game, that worked out well, right?

Edit: I have the feeling, that i know him from somewhere first i thought it was jean luc, but you guys say it isn't him so that got me thinking. maybe the fable narrator?

The voice reminded me a little bit of Christopher Plummer (another distinguished actor) but I don't think it's him either. It's entirely possible that it's a relatively unknown actor or voice actor that happens to sound a bit like others.

Does this not look bad? I think this looks pretty bad. Visually, I mean.

That looked really good in some spots, still had the signature telltale animation wonkiness in other spots, looking forward to seeing more

Excited to see the franchise getting some air time.
