I bought part one of this hitman game based upon the first quick look. I would have gotten the whole package but the need to be online pissed me off because of the load times so I said I'm out.

This extended quick look had me interested again, I think it was the axe to the gardners head that did it.

Will pick up the season pass after the third part if it's any good

I think Brad and Dan should switch roles for the next installment. I want to see Dan’s decisiveness and Brad’s inventiveness take flight.

It was pretty frustrating to watch them walk past the exploding golf ball and cellphone multiple times without seeing them. Slow down! Use the instinct vision!

Oh well.

doesn't shoot the virus containment thingy

haha brad didn't notice the science boys walking back in and say something like "oh shit the virus is dying lemme fix dat"

he was so convinced that he killed the virus for about 20 mins!

the way brad keeps trying to "be people" whilst people are looking right at him and whilst he's in combat is...disturbing!

What most people don't seem to appreciate or remember, because I think Brad has mentioned this himself, is that it's not easy to play these quicklooks well and sound interesting at the same time or to talk at all.

I know I would have a very difficult time doing this. If I had to talk I'd quit playing the game and if I was playing the game I'd be too focused to talk so I cut them some slack . I think Brad is more like me because when he's describing the game to the other host and viewer he often is just wandering aimlessly which can be a little annoying but I get it.

It's not easy to focus 100% on the game to play well while also trying to say something interesting while Dan is breathing down your neck. And most of the things they were missing I didn't know about either so it didn't bother me so for most people watching this who probably haven't played or played much of this game they don't know what Brad's missing so it's no big deal.

Anyway, I loved these two videos and would like to see more. It should be a new series and the art should have Dan in a devil suit on Brad's shoulder.

Pretty sure that's because that question has been answered to death, not because people don't like ERs themselves.

I mean, considering the fact we've had endurance runs of every MGS game recently too...

I don't think you understand Giantbombs take on an endurance run.

Brad's and Dan's Hitman series might be my favorite Giant Bomb videos in a long time. I now need them to play every Hitman game and record it like the East crew is doing with VinnyVania.

Erm, I watched their Persona ER in full. I don't see a whole lot of difference between that and what they did with the MGS games if you take ER to mean a full playthrough of a game without stopping. It just wasn't called a ER.

Don't get me wrong I agree with you but for giantbomb there is a difference between finishing a game and an ER. The ER is them playing it hell or high water every single day until it's done.

This is a great sort-of series. Still not sure why people are so nitpicky with and give such hit to brad over things everyone else on the site gets a free pass for. Or why they get so sensitive about it in the first place. Oh well.

Yeah, this is starting to bother me even more than the guys who constantly bash Dan. Everyone's favorite Vinny plays games like shit a lot of the time, yet no one complains.

And don't get me wrong, I got nothing against Vinny (or anyone else), he's great! I just hate the double standard.

I think it's probably in the execution. Vinny relishes the chaos - even if he misses mechanics or doesn't realize something, he manages to make it work. He remains affable and funny even if the face of failure, while Brad gets (or seems to get) frustrated by his failure and that frustration gets transferred to the viewer.

And really, maybe it's just confirmation bias, but I feel like Vinny picks up on game mechanics way quicker that some of the other GB crew. I think it might be the type of gamers they are, but for example, Brad seems to miss a lot of the little cues Hitman is giving him about when a disguise is safe or not etc.

Vinny likes playing games that require thorough exploration and methodical approaches, making him more likely to figure the games out. I think I remember him mentioning that (like me) he always checks the option menu before starting a game, which demonstrates a certain type personality.

It's something I wish all the GB crew would do more often. They should worry less about making the video interesting/keeping it constantly moving or whatever and check the options/controls and read the texts so that they know what is going on. I think they too often rush into the games and then end up missing whole mechanics or getting stuck somewhere

I would like to just copy-paste this a thousand times in the comment section.

I'd like to un-copy and paste it.

I come here for comedy and crazy dumb shit and fun, not someone meticulously playing a game. If I want that I can hit up youtube.com/gamingpointdexter or some crap.

Let them play how they are, it's fun.

You're missing the point. It's about basic core concepts they are missing, then continue to miss on purpose out of fear of the video not moving fast enough. Resulting in frustration because they don't understand those concepts, which isn't actually that fun to watch.

Not saying this series is shit, it's fun, but it could benefit from a little more understanding of the game's mechanics. Like a regular person would understand it, not some high level player.

Agreed. I wish guys would take some time between videos like this to replay these sections off camera, since they constantly seem to just blow by super helpful gameplay prompts or gloss over mechanics. And with Brad's penchant for making super sweeping generalizations or presumptions about how a game designer wants a game to be played or how a mechanic works (to often be proven at odds with those presumptions by us in the comments), it would allow for some better content overall. Nothing frustrates me more than watching fun Brad videos come to a screeching halt mid-video because he fundamentally misunderstands how the game works.

Completly ignoring the very basics of the gamemechanics aside this series is fucking glorious in a way MGS never was. Maybe this more focused playboxgame lends itself better to Dans insanity.

Brad will emerge as an stronger human being after this series. This episode was part of the breaking down phase, Im looking forward to when Dan will start rebuilding him.

edit: Also "Brad you are making Drew look like a ninja with your stealthtechniques here" :D

It's a shame the pre release messaging for this game made it sound like it was on fire, because this actually seems pretty great.

Nothing was on fire. People were making a fuss out of nothing. This game is awesome.

That's why I said the pre release messaging made it sound like the game was on fire, not that the game is on fire.

I won't comment on what fuss other people may have made, or whether it was valid. For me, personally, I was wary of this game pre release due to how the messaging was being handled. First the game was delayed in 2015 then in January 2016, right before the beta, they started canceling pre-orders for the $60 retail game coming out in March 2016, followed by the episodic announcement and that the retail version wasn't coming out until Jan 2017. It didn't help that the price to individually purchase the episodes costs more than if you buy the full game at once. Plus they didn't really justify the always online nature of the game before release, which wasn't helped by the server load issues, disconnects and long load times at launch.

And this isn't the first time this was happened with Square Enix/Eidos. Remember all the confusion around the timed exclusivity with Microsoft for Rise of the Tomb Raider? At first people thought Microsoft had bought the publishing rights to Tomb Raider. Or the Deus Ex Mankind Divided marketing fiascos? The tiered pre-orders where the more people pre-order the more rewards everyone got, a promotion that was almost immediately canceled because of the negative reception. Followed by the controversies for the "mechanical apartheid" and "Augs Lives Matter" marketing which was accused of being incentive to racial issues.

I really like what Square Enix has been doing with the development of these Eidos properties; Hitman, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex. The ones I've played I've really enjoyed and the ones I haven't, I think look great and intend to play, like Hitman.

My point is that, in my opinion, Square Enix/Eidos PR has been doing a terrible job of marketing the great games they have been putting out, and that that is a shame.

Watching this video so many months after release is definitely something. It's amazing how much of the game mechanics Brad and Dan just didn't understand. Combined with the desire to be "funny" made this video a beautiful mess.

And occasionally frustrating to watch.

No Noticed Kills.

I also don't know why a DNA-specific virus is so scary. First of all, guns exist and they can kill anyone indiscriminately, which is scary enough. Secondly, there are far easier ways to kill someone than to get some of their DNA, engineer a virus specifically for them and then get them in contact with it. Is the idea that someone would unleash the virus into the world and wait until it reaches the intended target? Is it scary because it could mutate and lose its targetedness, killing everyone?
