I can't belive I'm "Well Actually"ing this video, but I feel like especially @brad or @alex would have/should have known this: Temple of the Dog wasn't a collaboration between Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.

Soundgarden existed with Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron, but Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament were bandless after the death of Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone. Wood and Cornell were roommates, and Temple of the Dog was a tribute to him with those four plus Mike McCready and some dude named Eddie Vedder from California that had flown up to audition for McCready, Ament, and Gossard.

Temple of the Dog released their EP, then Pearl Jam was formed. Sure, in hidsight it's easy to think of Temple as "Soundgarden plus Pearl Jam" since that's what those people went on to be, but it wasn't presented that way at the time.

What you're saying is true, but the song actually got the majority of its airplay after the two bands had become famous and the record label realized they had (essentially) a Pearl Jam/Soundgarden collab in their catalog and re-issued the song.

This setup is probably gonna be close to what they do for GOTY so hopefully all the audio issues can be ironed out by the time they record.

Man I was looking forward to this feature and it really really under-delivers, to the point I'm not even sure its worth watching. Its not a pod-cast for one thing (why ever not? Why is this not on the premium feed that the hotspot is a part of?) But also, like, you can't just put this on in the background and listen too it, they don't let the songs play at a loud enough volume to be heard and recognized, let alone loud enough to be heard over them all talking.

Like, unless you know all the songs they mention already by title or music video alone (and only by title if your not watching the video/leaving it on in the background), you've got to what? Pause the video every-time they mention a song and go lookup the song/video on youtube to listen too it for yourself/remember what it was?

I am sure this was a lot of fun to do, but holy hell the format is abysmal in terms of viewer experience/quality. If you had a list of "How to make this feature suck to listen too for the majority of your audience" they checked off a dozen different boxes on that bingo card.

I want to like this, I really do. I want to love it. And kudos to all the people who can enjoy it. But hot damn.

Needs more Cotton Eyed Joe by Rednex and Justified & Ancient by the KLF. The early 90's were bananas. You're welcome!

This was extremely good. In the sequel please pump the music volume up slightly so you can hear more of it.

Also, there is nothing better than racing down the highway with "Creed - Higher" on blast.

Looking forward??? to when they inevitably get to the 00s and I may actually be offended by what they decide to trash.

Totally agree with Jeff that Butterfly is "good". Also am now forever disturbed by whatever the fuck that Jordy song was, so thanks Alex! :^D

oh man Summer Girls by LFO...I rediscovered (as in as a small child I vaguely remember hearing it on the radio/my older sister maybe playing it back then) that song a few years ago. I love the absolutely insanely bad lyrics to that song. They are abstract but in the worst and dumbest way possible. I get why it is hated, but few songs have ever made me laugh harder than that shit has.

I should've submitted Iris by Goo Goo Dolls. One of the worst songs ever, probably my first ever memory of actively disliking something in life.

also Wild Wild West by Will Smith is "bad" but in the way that most songs from that era of Big Will are like Freakin' It, Gettin' Jiggy Wit It, and Miami. It's a super silly, blandly slick production pop rap song that's dumb fun. So much better than interminable shit like Cherry Pie, which takes a very specific mood to... not completely hate.

I think we're definitely missing Barbie Girl by Aqua. Sublime surely needs to be there too.

Achy Breaky Heart is a better song than Man in the Box by Alice in Chains.

*psst* EVERY decade has terrible music. At least I can fairly accurately speak for 80s 90s and 00s. Every deecade also has unassailable classic songs and bands.

That said, FUCK Steal My Sunshine even if it does have a link to Broken Social Scene. *double birds*

I was gifted the Jordy song not once, but twice. Once as a cassette single, once the full album. iirc, it had all the songs once in French and once in English? Anyway, yeah. Weird thing that Amoeba happily bought from me, so who knows where those are now.

I really enjoyed this show, despite the fact I didn't recognize anyone beyond Van Halen and a few others, none of who I followed then.

Please turn up the music next time, so that my stomach may truly become unsettled.

"Achtung Baby" and "Zooropa" are my favorite U2 era. (Even though they're two albums, I can't think of one without the other.)

Indeed, Achtung Baby is brilliant, and Zooropa is a bit crazy and interesting, but also beautiful, ex:

As a kid who turned 10 in ’92 I can confirm the 90’s was in fact the worst decade, not just for music but also fashion and hairstyles. I don’t know why, but when I think of the ‘90’s I think of white plastic. I feel like everything was made of white plastic and everything sounded like white plastic. Yellowing white plastic with a bowl cut wrapped in a Global Hypercolor t-shirt.
