I'm not sure if the guys mention it in the video, but you can totally put in your original discs for these games and play for free. I'm pretty sure you can get a Red Faction 2 disc for way cheaper than $15.

@darth_navster: yeah def check all your indie game stores/pawn shops for some of these. It's a big shame Sony didn't do the same for their PS2 stuff, and I'm not trying to be a fanboy, that is genuinely shitty when you see how MS handles it.

This Xbox 1 stream featuring the Xbox One playing backwards compatible Xbox 1 games is one stream that won my heart.

The thing about Black is that it was the first true spiritual successor to Goldeneye. Tone, mission style, feel of the shooting. It captured that on the Xbox in a way that no other game did.

Crimson Skies is the only game I ever beat on the original xbox. I've no regrets. I just hope these find their way, or at least CS finds its way to the Win10 store.

The xbox might still be my favorite xbox....at least Its the only one I own hahaha. Not having a pc I still play it every so often. Mechassault 1+2, voodoo vince, the proper version of psychonauts, dark corners of the earth, riddick, the best versions (besides mods on pc, by far) of gta 3/vice city, ninja gaiden, otogi 1+2, munch's odysee, stranger's wrath, breakdown, a different version of onimusha, halo 1+2, the full spectrum warrior games, bloodwake, arctic thunder, jet set radio future, assault suit valkyrie, lots of awesome/interesting titles just off the top of my head.(And im not very nostalgic for it either as I only got one like 2-3 years ago, back in the day I even used to think the xbox was stupid because it tried so hard to come off as cool&mature in its marketing, that was always an instant turnoff for me).

I had to buy 4 to get one that worked for more than a couple games though (goddamn shitty xbox discdrives). watch out if wanna buy a xbox 2nd hand, they used 5 or 7 different discdrives in it over its manufacturing lifespan and only 1 of em is somewhat build to last. You need the one with the philips disc drive.

My guess is microsoft is doing this because they know their consoles are cheaply build and wont last long. If they dont do this none of the xbox games might be officially playable by the time all xboxes are broken (and most of em will break sooner than later. Especially the 360 if you read about how that thing was slapped together as cheaply as possible, cutting corners everywhere..) I think its a sign that at least some people at xbox now care about preservation, especially with how Phil keeps hammering on it. He probably knows better than most how none of the xboxes are build to last but still wants the art (the games) that was on it to survive. Suuuuure they could leave it to the 'pirates' but I think microsoft can use every bit of good will they can get. This certainly gets them some from me.

Feels like Senior Designer Stuart Black probably named Black after himself, as lame as that is. Old bombcast memories are flowing back.

I was kind of floored how good Crimson Skies and Ninja Gaiden Black looked when I played them a couple days ago. I was pretty much expecting these games to just look like a blurry mess on a modern TV, but it was nothing of the sort. It's pretty fucking awesome that they put the work into this to make them look good across the board.

It'll be interesting to see how much of a difference an X1X makes.

I thought i had seen everything but I was very surprised by how BLACK looked and played, I played it from start to finish on my ps2 back in the day, i remembered feeling quicker. And man that Pirates game sure looks different from the PC Version, of the remake. It's a fun game and I guess i could try it on a controller.

It looks like Halo 1 and 2 is backward compatible as well, but you can only play them using physical copies unless they're on the store as well? They probably want to push the Master Chief Collection instead, but you have this in case you have your original discs and want to do system link.

Though I worry the system link stuff will get messy. Original Xbox games had patches and I'm not sure if these Xbox One versions have those patches or even downloadable content installed. Patch discrepancy might make it so you can't even link with original Xbox or 360 game consoles. Your only method of patching original Xbox systems is to soft mod your console (Which is a very easy process by this point.) 360 systems for OG Xbox titles? Maybe not so easy, then again Xbox games on an Xbox 360 were dicey for the most part it may not be worth the trouble.

Hey this was neat. I bought a couple of the titles and will be spending some time on my Xbox playing them over the next couple of weeks. Nice to take a little break from PC gaming from time to time.

On the Danish store Psychonauts is up, but it isn't for sale. Anyone knows what is up with that?

It's actually a bad time (although a great time to play games) for this to release. I am really invested in KOTOR now. I've had it on Steam but couldn't get into it, either because I wasn't into the mouse and keyboard controls despite them still being fine, and/or because the game took time to get it working at the best it can (which, wasn't that much time). Now on BC, I've gotten farther than I ever had and am into it, wanting to finish it.

After that, maybe getting two and going through that. I also kind of want to go through Prince of Persia, as the little I played of it on there felt great making me realize I may not have given it enough chance in the past (I also instantly realized how influential Super Mario 64 was, as there are quite a few similarities between the platforming). That compiled with the fact Odyssey, Wolfenstein and Assassin's Creed Origins is out, and me going out of town so I won't be playing any games for a few days kind of sucks.

I miss the vampire era of games, Kain, Soul Reaver, The Masquerade.
