This pretty much gets rid of any worry I had about Ninja Theory taking over the DMC franchise. This combat looks solid and a lot of fun to play.

Can't wait for this to come out and get my DmC on!

I liked what I have seen so far of the new DMC.

However, seeing is not the issue, since the series was never about graphics. A demo is the only thing that can dissipate my doubts for good.

I love how "images show game still in development" is plastered over it, something you don't see too often in trailers. Basically pre-emptive damage control. Still not very impressed.

Big fan of Devil May Cry as it was, so I'm still sort of skeptical.  But I'm also a big fan of Ninja Theory, so hopefully this works out.
 
I just hope they can nail the bosses, which I've always found to be a strength of the series.

Looks a little slower than previous DMC games I've seen played. Then again, the guy showing off the combos could just be a shitty dev/player. Get it in the hands of a DMC player and we'll probably see a different side to this game.

Hope this game does well, though. Even if it's not really up my alley, I'd like to see Ninja Theory do good.

I understand that that game will be (c)2012, but this here trailer is released in 2011 (unless I've pulled a Rip Van Winkle and didn't notice) so wouldn't that be (c)2011?

After seeing Heavenly Sword and Enslaved, we know Ninja Theory can do gorgeous art direction and level design with their eyes closed. What I'm curious to see is how they handle what appears to be a very active and demanding combat system. Games like Bayonetta and God Of War have really set the bar high for a modern, polished character action game.

Having said that, this installment interests me more than any DMC since the first ones.

Also, it's always nice to see that Giant Bomb is a haven of great commenters, sheltered from roaming wild packs of Japanophiles tearing games to shreds because Dante isn't kakkoii enough.

You know what I finally understand it all see Hideo Kojima look at these trailers and went eff this if they're not making a DMC I will and so that's how Raising Revenge came about and when people told him that's not MGS he said chill guys I'll make MGS5 one day and besides you really think a cyborg ninja will make a good stealth game I don't think so.

Am I the only one who noticed that the level design is a carbon copy of Bayonetta? IMO the action and combo system look OK but the level design and the graphics (at the games current state) are lacking.

I actually don't see the problem people had with Nero. Personally I enjoyed playing as Nero and his move set much more than Dantes. The devilbringer kind of spoiled me. That said I respect that others might have liked the Dante part more because he is the title character so to speak - I meant that the game is great until you get to that point where it basically makes you replay everything from end to beginning, fighting the exact same bosses that employ the exact same attack patterns. The end of the game where they make you fight the bosses for a third time, now one after another just sent me really over the edge.

Possibly the laziest design I've ever seen in a relatively modern day game.

@Humanity: I had no problem with Nero. Its just that Dante is... well, Dante. I liked playing as Nero, its just if given the choice, I would choose to play as Dante over him. The design was pretty lazy, but I still really enjoyed the game.

Hard mode better be available from start, DMC enemy should never be this passive.

Scenery looks cool, but damn. After going back and playing some more Bayonetta, the combat in DMC looks like garbage. Granted I havent played it, and it's hard to tell from these videos, but just judging from the speed and the transition between combos this seems pretty dull. Hope it gets better before release! I'll probably end up playing it regardless because i'm a beat'um up whore. (that sounded kind of wrong.. oh well)

I got two things from it. 1) The move set looked awfully repetitive for a game about stylish action. That's not really how I would show off my combat. And 2) Bayonetta set a new standard in crazy stylish action. I feel like I might like this game more of it came out before DMC4 and Bayonetta. The art design and colors look aight, but man - that was depressing. And just when I was getting optimistic.

Cracks me up how some of you act as if you've played it already. While it might not look as insane as Bayonetta, it definitely looks like it demands a bit more as far as actual knowledge of combos goes. Which is something DMC has always been about, you could just button mash and win, but a higher level of enjoyment came out of really mixing up the combat.

Glad to see the devil bringer back in some form, I thought it was a great addition to the series and playing as Nero in DMC4 was way more enjoyable than playing as Dante in that same game because of it. Also, I didn't really enjoy how they portrayed Dante in DMC4.

Oh, man, that UE3 texture pop at 00:36. And I'm nitpicking, but did the pistols sound like your generic FPS' M4 to anyone else?

As for the game itself, I enjoyed both Heavenly Sword and Enslaved, but the action just... didn't click for me. It felt a lot more repetitive and automated compared to Devil May Cry games. That, and the game seems to go a different way with its CRAZY, which I don't really think suits the series.

Oh well, we'll see.

This looks more like God of War than Devil May Cry, from a level design stand point and Dante having a lot of HUGE reach on his attacks that take up a lot of the screen.

Gone is the finesse and in its wake is left button mashing.

It could do without the bright flashes every time Dante hits a dude. Makes it difficult to see who's about to attack you. Other than that, looks like the game is shaping up nicely.

You know what? Fuck it.

If they're going to all the trouble to reboot the franchise and cop this amount of flak from the fans anyway then I'd rather they just gut this game and make it unrecognisable from any other Devil May Cry title.

Seeing the door blocked off till you killed all the minions in the room just stuck out as something really dated, to be honest I'm not really sure if that kind of thing should still fly in contemporary games.

Devil May Cry has a huge place in my heart and always will but what's the point in going through all of this drama if the only drastic changes they're making are cosmetic? The HD collection is all the nostalgia we need so Ninja Theory should just leave all of that stuff to the previous games that the fans love and make DMC the game to push the franchise forward in new and different ways.

This game looks fucking awesome. The haters -- if there are any after this month's latest batch of videos -- are really stupid. "His hair isn't white anymore", is soooo moronic. How could you possibly justify that excuse against all the awesome stuff going on in this game?

It's also offensive to keep hearing these buttholes call Dante "Emo-looking" when he's clearly punk rock inspired. Kids today; don't know shit about music, or anything.

It looks like you will love this game or hate it but it just seems weird for all the trouble they did to throw everything out to try so hard to recreate the same battle style and not do it as well. They should have added something new to the table because if this is a crappier dmc4 with a new coat of paint i do not want. But i guess it's a damned if you do damned if you don't.
