after that pretty poor post yesterday i regretted my sub n asked for a refund, this announcement makes me hope i was wrong for giving in after the last yr n jumping the gun so to speak. i still liked those left at the site but honestly dan coming back is the highlight of all this , i came to the site following him n jason from gi and well...i truely think it only mostly went downhill after he left so here's to hoping he can perk things up ...again .. its a shame we don't get more jeff g and grubb with it tho.

I'm excited for this next chapter of GB. It's a different beast from when I first started watching, but Dan is behind some of my favorite shows to ever grace the site and I'm confident he'll come up with something bonkers.

While I wish I know what exactly caused Jeff (Gerstmann) to go his separate way, I guess I'll have be content with the simplest explanation inferred from his Twitch stream and Patreon description that it is time he got out from being under some boss or corporate management. One meeting too far!

Does this look like GB as we know it? No. Is it the first time that's been the case? Not remotely, because in the ~14 years of its existence the site has comprised a number of distinct eras, each with their own charm, creative output, and team behind them. Jeff departing is a massively tough pill to swallow, given he's both the last remaining founder and a powerhouse editor & personality, but I don't think it has to be a wholly negative thing.

First and foremost I hope this parting of ways is something that ultimately brings Gerstmann joy. I'm also personally excited to see what he's up to going forward, as in the case with Brad Alex & Vinny leaving, and the other alumni who've pursued paths in and outside the field. Finally, given the strength of this team and the plan as they've pitched it, I'm excited to witness this next chapter of the site. It can't (and doesn't aim to) recreate the Giant Bomb of 2008, or 2013, or 2015, or more recent years, but for now I'm hopeful it produces something new that's worthy of the name and satisfies the team. Best of luck!

That was hilarious. Best part was how the hood almost completely obscured Lucy's face. Had me cracking up each time she was shown.

Gerstmann leaving had me feeling skeptical, but if there's one person who can get GB back to its glory days, it's Dan. I'm excited!

Been a member of this site since day 1, and I consider this to be the best place in the internet. What I loved, back when it started, was the "family" feel of it, the chemistry of Jeff, Ryan, Brad Alex and Vinny together, and the other members who added to it in the years to come; it created a GB "extended universe" that made me discover some of my favourite internet people to this day.

Of course, people grow up and change; some, tragically, pass away. I had no idea how GB could evolve; hearing that Jeff was leaving felt like the end of an era, and I had no idea if the next one it would be a good one, but this video actually brings back that manic, team energy that I always loved in this website.

I just subscribed to Jeff's Patreon, I have already been backing Nextlander, and now I'm confident I'll keep my subscription here as well (actually I also back Fire Escape so I guess I'm paying Dan twice? I am not sure it's legal). I love when people rise to the challenges change brings and do something cool with it. And I am happy I get to hear from my favourite people, no matter in what team configuration.

Looking forwards to more Giant Bomb.

I thought the ouija board was spelling out "bring your b game" at first and I died. Maybe Giant Bomb is gunna be ok actually. Dan is a lot of things but you can't deny he's a genius at coming up with content, excited to see what you end up doing next.

yess.... excellent... I heard the news about the new crew before I saw the video. So I was very confused (especially since it wasn't on the site, that I could see? Maybe?). Very happy to see it, even if the spoilers were spoiled. This and especially seeing everyone together today on the bombcast keeps me hopeful for the future (for everyone!)
