I get the impression from this that the entire game occurs in the exact same 1 block area around a city square.

Getting a real Assassin's Creed vibe from the way Lightning looks when she's running around the city.

Was Zidane popular? I enjoyed FF9 and all, but I'm only now remembering his name after being reminded.

Some FFXIII characters are more known for how annoying they are, but I guess Lightning herself was never a bad character or anything. I thought she was fine at least.

No, you're not supposed to be working, NOW GO TO BED!!! Also, I am there day 1. Also, I didn't watch the trailer. Also, FFXIII is my favorite set of FF games(followed by X & X2), so my body is ready.

You know, when I get disgruntled, I just look for a different job.

I know a lot of people were turned off by FFXIII and FXIII-2 and but I'm not one of them. I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

I for one am stoked, I really like the XIII series and kind of missed Lightning in XIII-2. Hopefully I like the new one as much as I liked the other two.

Hopefully there will be DLC to replace that outfit, guuuuuuuuurl.

Who am I kidding, of course there will be.

So, this is a Final Fantasy game where you control ONE character. One. No party.

Y'know, I was a fan of 13 and 13-2. I've been a fan since 6 on the SNES. I'm not touching this trash.

I know people hate ff 13 and everything around it, but I really care for the characters and world. I can't wait for this game!

I thought I saw that too. It could just be the way the video is encoded. Very likely just shit frrame rate tho.

Well, Square Enix isn't necessarily in great financial shape right now SO KEEP MILKING THAT COW, SQUARE!!!! THAT VERSUS GAME and THE NEXT THIEF GAME NEEDS TO COME OUT!!!!!

The creepy religious overtones turn me off...oh wait, this is a modern Final Fantasy so I was never really turned on.

Um, this next-gen doesn't mean completely revolutionary graphics detail like the 360 or PS3. It means having that graphical detail at a stable framerate. Also, look at the 360 launch titles none of them looked all that great. Most could've easily been original xbox games.(as is the consensus on the site that you are currently commenting on)

Why dedicate two sequels to a lackluster entry in the series? Why not dedicate time to one of these ideas: A.) revisit a more familiar popular franchise game (i.e final fantasy 7-2, Chrono trigger 2) B.) create a entirely new Rpg IP C.) dedicate resources to finishing Versus. I do not understand why Square Enix wants to keep wasting time and money on the 13 Franchise.

One could argue that they've been doing that for the past decade when speaking of their japanese development side(aka the non-Eidos stuff). Oh hey look a female version of Cloud(Lightning) or oh hey look a black haired version of Cloud(the supposed main protagonist of Versus). \ There's still going to be clunky out of combat controls, just look at the trailer where they have Lightning jumping around. There's still going to be the threat of the impending apocalypse. There's still going to be random battles. These are all outdated mechanics or themes even by 2007 standards.

@RecSpec: I don't remember them saying any of that. They still haven't "officially" showed anything from Versus apart from the first trailer and the concept art in Famistu a couple years back. In interviews, Nomura even wanted to bring back more elements from old FF. Bringing back the airships and open world. All I remember them(Squareenix) saying was "hey guys we're making FF13 multiplatform, but Versus is still exclusive to the PS3".
