I can't tell if the frame rate is just bad or if something went wrong with the video.

Even by Final Fantasy standards this is a bad name.

A. They would need to rebuild those and spend even more resources

B. They already have assets that they've already spent a lot of resources on in building FFXIII so creating IP is just going to be more resources spent.

C. Because they are probably lacking resources in the first place and most likely that game might actually be far or is still halfway from being finished and so they need some more cash to come in since financially they are not doing so well.

In summary, they just need to make money ASAP and not try to risk it by doing the recommendations your saying.

Can we go back to FF not trying to mimic bad anime? Please, Square-Enix? And can you hire some decent english writers/translators sometime in the near future?

I know Final Fantasy has been tagged to more games than even Mario, but at what point is the brand completely diluted?

The main series seems to have stopped being reputable somewhere around the time of the MMO.

Sub-20fps and nothing new, but I'm sure the FF fanboys will eat it up.

I'm sure the 5 people who still like FFXIII on this site are extremely disappointed that they couldn't watch the trailer on release.

@GaspoweR It seems to be more of a gamble for Square to give the go ahead to make this instead of something more likely to be profitable. It also seems that you are asserting that the production of this game would be almost cost free to produce. Just because it has the same assets does not mean it is more cost effective than creating something new.

Makes me think I should finish 13-2 which I was thoroughly enjoying till I got stuck on the first main boss fight... think I'm losing it!!

Yeah pretty much how I feel and FF7,8,9,10 are some of my favourite games ever, FF13-3 who gives a shit, I have FF13 save still on my system for years and just can't get into it. I always thought Final Fantasy would be one of those games I would buy every 3 years till the day I died, but they really killed them selves this generation focusing on graphics too much, which in return gives you a linear corridor experience for 90% of the game. I hope they go back to what matters in FF15, a game inspired by the PSX Final Fantasy games, great cast of characters, big world, turned based combat system when you control all of the characters instead on focusing on look at our eye lash technology. I don't care about Lightnings story at all simple as that.

Ah yes the hay days of replicating Dragon Quest and slightly better anime. Good times.

Funny some people think like that about Xcom...saying its worse and not worth playing as the original is better. I personally loved the new FF game and while it was a bit linear I enjoyed the story and the combat was fantastic.

All I hear is Liara.

I want this game to be good, I thought FFXIII-2 was pretty good, not great, but definitely an improvement. This trailer truly does look awful, though. Hopefully the game will look better closer to release.

I want to preface this by saying that I have not played FF13 but I have seen somebody else play 90% of FF13-2 and I think both games are really dumb, and more to the point, FF13-2 is damn near incomprehensible on top of being dumb.

But I'm not entirely sure how you can look at something like this and say "nothing new". What Final Fantasy games have you been playing with platforming elements that seem inspired by Mirror's Edge? And while I only have a tangential grasp of FF13-2's battle system, what little they show of it here does seem to be different if you are paying attention to what is going on and not just looking for something to write off.

That's not to say it'll be good, mind you - in particular a lot of the platforming in this video looks really tacked on, like it's taking place in some kind of weird debug map or something - but I'd hardly say "nothing new".

I'd possibly be willing to stomach all of the stupid anime navel gazing if the game actually turns out to be fun.

I feel violated by this terrible frame-rate.

I always felt that the fashion choice of FF characters are too over the top, obnoxious and impractical. But, hey. Another FF game. Great.

Final Fantasy Creed? I'm kinda intrigued.

@deathfromace: I certainly wanted to enjoy FF13. With some hindsight, I think I've pinpointed my biggest issues.

Story-wise, my problem was execution. I think there's a great story in there, but from the get-go I felt like certain important elements of the plot and the setting weren't being conveyed to me clearly. I used the database early on to clarify things for me, but as the game went on I started to resent having to consult this summary to find the information that should have been imparted during the game. That blunted the impact of the story for me significantly.

The combat was certainly interesting, but I always felt more like I was coaching a sports team than controlling the characters. Putting me in control of what classes the team were instead of the actions themselves ended up combining with my ambivalence to the storytelling style and contributing to my overall feeling of the game pushing me away from directly enjoying it.

I never played the original Xcom. I'm loving this one, though.

And so my strange love affair for the FF XIII series of games continues.....

For someone who absolutely abhorred 13 I went in to 13-2 saying I can't imagine how much worse it could get. To be honest I really enjoyed it, sure it cribbed off of persona in terms of making monsters the 3 party member, but it also had one of the better villains of recent memory in a FF game not to mention the ending to 13-2 was almost the biggest FU in the best way I could imagine. So I'll give FF13-LR a shot.
