What the Fark is ARK?

this video was absolutely incredible + I enjoyed it very much + as with many Giant Bomb videos, the icing on this delicious cake is reading the comments and seeing how many people are upset that they're simply calling a spade a spade (or a garbage can a garbage can, in this case)

Played this for an hour. Punched some trees and got killed by people who got mad when I said, "Hey remember Turok? That game had fun in it."

It's pretty bad.

If you are getting offended by the GB guys not taking something you enjoy seriously, you really don't get Giant Bomb.

I lost it when the first player they met just ran off in terror instead of fighting back. I wish we could have seen that scene from his perspective. That fucking model coming at you swinging like a maniac.

Ark deserves to be criticized for capitalizing on its existing player base instead of trying to polish its game to make new players understand or tolerate what it's doing. It is, however, doing a lot. Personally some friends had me play it with them once week for a few months and while it didn't hold my interest (primarily, things take too long and what you build always looks like crap), they definitely were having fun.

@dgtlty: You respawn in one of the zones and can't get your stuff back unless you recover it from your corpse (which the Giant Bomb crew looted anyway in one case). You keep your character and level, and if you have a bed that you (or your tribe, if you're in one) own(s), you can respawn at them. You can also respawn at a sleeping bag once, so they're good for when you know you're about to do something dangerous.

I'd say that the guys the GB crew here killed weren't far enough along to really be upset about being killed.

I would totally watch the beast crew try and forge a life in ark.

My son (11) just got into this. The learning curve is steep but he's managed to crack it and quite enjoys it. Yep it's a "Minecraft" genre game.

Considering how awful this ran on PC, I'd hate to see it on console.

I don't get why people are still amused by disproportionate characters these days, we've been able to make them in a lot of games for a long time. I do hope they revisit this and actually make progress, though.
