Would be cool if this was secretly a horror game.

Always enjoy their Soundtracks and the Atmosphere they create. That alone made me enjoy Year Walk and Device 6 tremendously. Will keep an Eye out for this.

If you haven't played Year Walk or Device 6, why the hell not? they're both on iOS, and Year Walk is on Steam. They're amazing games.

I'm in the minority of those that think Year Walk was fair but overrated. Interesting but I can't exactly say I was enjoying my time with it.

Looks like another ringer from Simogo. In my opinion, Device 6 and Year Walk are "lightning in a bottle" quality games. The fact that they were made by the same people in the same year is completely insane.

I really want Device 6 to come to Steam, too. I don't have an iOS device.

Hmm... I don't know what to think of this. I mean, Year Walk and Device 6 are great, unique experiences, but they also happened to both be in genres that I find interesting. This one seems like it's not so much.

Year Walk is like an eerie, slow-paced, horror movie. Then Device 6 is like a psychological mystery movie. After those, you find yourself loving this new movie director and can't wait to see what he does next, and then all of a sudden he's releasing The Lakehouse with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. I can't think of a better way to completely lose my interest. They're great at what they do and maybe the game will turn out amazing, but I might just have to skip this one and hope they get back to the kind of stuff that got my attention in the first place.

Isn't that assuming a lot about a game from just the trailer? From what I've experienced with Year Walk, the tone of the game acts to hide the full breadth of the story. Most of what you accomplish in year walk reveals a false narrative and they end up 'tricking' you by playing against your expectations. Could they not be doing the same thing with this trailer/game?

Dismissal of a game purely by genre is a really unfortunate stance to take especially when they could be setting the field for some interesting surprises...

I don't think I'm assuming a lot. Everything I'm saying or thinking about it is based on what I see in the trailer, including the tone, the art, the music, the text, etc. Obviously it could all be misleading and it could be totally different, but then you could say that about any trailer that looks boring. "They must be keeping the real fun part a secret!" Like I said, I enjoyed their last two games, and this one might end up being great, but this trailer isn't doing it any favors.

I'm also a fan of Dear Esther. If you showed me a trailer for it, I'd probably think it looked boring, but the reason I enjoyed it was because it was eerie, mysterious, and had some deep, painful themes. This seems like it could be something like that, but it looks more like playing a Hallmark greeting card. Like Dear Esther Lite where it's more bubbly and cute. I'm just not interested in that. I guess we'll find out more if there's an updated trailer that reveals more of the gameplay or themes and then I'll update my opinion accordingly.

I think it's more that your initial comparison doesn't really click. Obviously, they'll be playing on themes of love, here, but it looks like no more of a crowd-pleaser than any of their recent work. Less "Oh, gee, I love you!" and more "Here's why I care for the things I care for." The look at gameplay in this trailer indicates a continuation of the studio's marriage of form and function, also.

Yeah, I'm certainly hoping it's more like what you're saying. I dunno, maybe I'm reading the trailer differently than everyone else and maybe everyone else is seeing it a little more accurately. I just can't shake the feeling like I'm watching a trailer to a Meg Ryan movie. I doubt they would get that corny, considering the quality of their previous work. I think I just really hate this trailer.
