Athletes are people that play sports, anything from baseball to football to track and field. Athletes in video games typically give gamers a chance to hit that home run or kick the winning goal that normally would take years of training to do.
Games prominently featuring celebrities, who either endorse the game or act as the focus of the story. Games with characters who happen to be played by celebrities are not always tie-ins.
Sometimes, rather than building a character model from scratch, a developer will sometimes use a real person as a template and use his or her physical attributes to create a similar character model to be used in their video game. In some cases that real reason will appear as themselves in games.
A real-life athlete who appears on the cover art of a sports game. Usually an up-and-coming star in the sport or a perennial fan favorite.
The Edmonton Oilers are a professional hockey franchise, founded in 1972. The OIlers won five Stanley Cups in the 1980s, and are generally considered the last great dynasty of the NHL.
Codenamed "Canada's Game", Hockey is a game played by two opposing teams on a sheet of ice with the objective of scoring the most goals with a rubber puck. Players use wood or composite hockey sticks to put the puck in the net.
These games are based off of established licenses, such as movies, comics, or TV shows. Examples are the James Bond 007 and Spider-Man franchises.
Long-time Franchise in the NHL, second team of Wayne Gretzky. They won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014.
Operating in the United States and Canada, the National Hockey League is considered the highest level of professional hockey.
"Original Six" franchise, founded in 1926. Playing in fabled Madison Square Garden in NYC, they've won the cup 4 times.
The St. Louis Blues are a professional ice hockey team based in St. Louis, Missouri. They are named after the famous W. C. Handy song "St. Louis Blues", and the Blues play in the 19,150-seat Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis.
