The Archon
When the
Demiurge was born, his mother
Sophia hid him in a cloud, away from all things. When he came to self-realization, he saw no one else and assumed he was the only being in existence. In response, he created our universe. The Gnostics attributed many of the more violent deeds of
YHVH, god of the Old Testament, to the Demiurge in an attempt to resolve the differences between his wrathful and compassionate sides.
In Shin Megami Tensei
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner
Yaldabaoth first appears in
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, under his epithet
Demiurge, as a boss who is a level 70 Tyrant. On his design is a snake-like motif that spirals up from his left leg to his head, which is a reference to his myth where his original form was a lion's head with a snake's body.
Shin Megami Tensei: NINE
Yaldabaoth himself proper appears in
Shin Megami Tensei: NINE as the game's final boss. His head has the same palette of colors as the Demiurge's wings, which also appear on the bodies of NINE's designs for
Adam and
Eve.
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
In
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, the Demiurge design reappears as a level 94 Vile. He is the game's secret boss and once beaten can be fused with the combination of
Metatron,
Hachiman, and
Samael. This combination is notable as these three demons refer to various aspects of Yaldabaoth: Metatron as representative of YHVH, Hachiman for his Shin Megami Tensei design symbolizing clouds, and Samael because his was also a name given to Yaldabaoth by Sophia.
