    As king of the fire giants in Norse myth, Surt hails from the searing flame world of Muspell. At Ragnarok, he is fated to duel Freyr to the death.

    Overview

    Husband of Sinmora and ruler of Muspelheim, it is said that Surt will set the world ablaze with his flaming sword during Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods. In some accounts he is described as one of the manifestations of Loki.

    Surt is one of the three major sub-bosses, alongside Astaroth and Arioch, in the lower part of the Great Cathedral, where Lucifer and the forces of Chaos have taken control. He holds one of the main ingredients needed to form the Devil Ring, a "Claw of Surt".

    Surt would later mimic this role in Nocturne, where he must be fought as one of the three sub-bosses in the Diet building. He can also be fought as a random encounter in the Tower of Kagutsuchi.

    Surt would also go on to make several appearances in later Megami Tensei games, usually as a mid to high level demon of the Tyrant/Maou clan.
