John Cena last edited by supermutant42 on 03/13/20 04:12AM View full history

John Cena first debuted in the WWE in a segment with Kurt Angle on Smackdown in 2002. Kurt Angle challenged anyone backstage of whom he had never wrestled before. Cena took the challenge and gave it his all. Angle struggled but eventually won the match. Later in his career, Cena made a new gimmick. He started rapping before his match and started to gain popularity. At this point of his career, Cena was a heel (villain). He won the United States Championship at WrestleMania XX by beating the Big Show and impressed everyone by lifting the 500 pounder twice in the match.

After Cena lost his US title, he aimed for the biggest prize of them all, the WWE title. At this point Cena played a face (hero) role. He stopped the rapping gimmick and made a new one called the chain gang. Cena defeated JBL at WrestleMania 21 once again and became one of the top wrestlers in the business. He was later drafted to Raw as their first Draft pick in the Lottery Draft.

Cena is the creator of the spinning US and WWE Championship belt.

  • “Trust me, ... I know where my heart is and my heart's right here. I'm going to keep doing everything because I love to do it, but I will never sacrifice my time between the ropes. That's no shot to anybody. Everybody's got different career paths. This is mine.”
  • “A lot of the artists that are coming out right now are sticking to the formula of guns, drugs, money, all that other stuff. I'm not from the 'hood, I've never been arrested, I never shot anybody, I never sold drugs,”
  • “What I want to do is, I want to put together a nice list of those guys who I really did admire when I was growing up, listening to names like Lord Finesse .
  • “I want to get people back on records that have been out of it for a little while, that still got crazy skills that are out there. There's a ton of people out still out there that can rip the mike and they need to be heard.”
  • "You can't see me!"
  • “MTV don't play music no more, so I don't know if we can do that, but we're going to really try to knock it down with this one, ... It's a great song, it sends a good message. It sends that message to people that you always don't have to be a gun-totin', mean mother ... we're all human beings.”
  • “so you can go ahead and blow me.”
  • “Kickin', ass takin' names, cashing checks, and breakin necks, the champ is here.”
  • “You almost never hear a rap crew today working like EPMD or 3rd Bass. I wanted to bring that style back a little and get away from one MC up there doing his thing. Working this way let us attack a song from different directions and create a more dynamic flow.”
  • "Want some, come get some!!!"
  • "I swear to god if you hit me i will lay your ass out!!!!"
