    Overview

FIFA 98: Road to World Cup is an instalment in the popular FIFA sports game franchise that was published by Electronic Arts and developed by EA Canada. It was released on a wide variety of different platforms including PC, Nintendo Game Boy, Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and the Sony PlayStation. The game was released in 1997 and was the last FIFA title to feature on the Sega Mega Drive and SNES.

As the name suggests, the title was designed to coincide with the 1998 FIFA World Cup football tournament that was held in France.

The game features 189 club teams and 172 national sides, with up to date rosters for the 1997/98 season.

The North American release of the game features Roy Lassiter (the prolific Major League Soccer goalscorer) on the front cover, with the UK version featuring David Beckham.
