Overview
The Bombing Islands, also known in Japan as Bombing Island, is a 3D top-down puzzle game developed and published by Kemco for the Sony PlayStation in Japan on July 18, 1997. It later received a European release in 2000 and a North American release on April 2001.
A spiritual successor to the game Bombuzal (of which Kemco released the SNES version), The Bombing Islands stars Kemco's mascot clown Kid Klown as he navigates grid-based islands, arranging explosives (each with a numbered blast radius) in a way that igniting the red detonator bomb will cause all others to explode in a cascade without taking out Kid Klown himself.
It later received a Nintendo 64 adaptation outside of Japan, known as Charlie Blast's Territory. It also received a mobile phone adaptation in April 1, 2003, known as The Bombing Island, with the gameplay resembling more like Bombuzal.
The game was later digitally re-released as a PSone Classics title for the PlayStation Network exclusively in Japan on July 6, 2011, where it is also known as The Bombing Islands: Kid Klown no Crazy Puzzle (to make it more similar to the other games in the Kid Klown series).
