Crazy Chicken X, known in Germany as Moorhuhn X, is a comedic hunting-themed shooting gallery game developed and published by phenomedia publishing gmbh for the PC (Platform) in Germany on May 16, 2003. It was later released throughout the rest of Europe (co-published by Focus Multimedia) on October 27, 2006.
The fourth mainline entry in the comedic Crazy Chicken / Moorhuhn series, Crazy Chicken X is set on an autumn farmland and builds on the series' standard formula of shooting birds with revamped graphics and a wider variety of interactable things to shoot.
It received several ports and re-releases, including console ports for both the PlayStation (Platform) and PlayStation 2 (Platform), a handheld port for the Nintendo DS (Platform), multiple smartphone ports, and modern ports for the Nintendo Switch (Platform), PlayStation 4 (Platform), and PlayStation 5 (Platform). Several of these ports include bonus mini-games.
The game later received console versions for both the PlayStation (Platform) on July 20, 2005 (ported by Sproing, released exclusively in Germany) and the PlayStation 2 (Platform) on November 17, 2006 (ported by System 3, co-published by Play It). The PS1 release is notable for including four bonus mini-games and for being one of the last games officially released for the system, released in the same year as Shoot and Schanppi das kleine Krokodil: 3 Fun-Games.
It also received a handheld port by Visual Imagination Software (Company) for the Nintendo DS (Platform), first released in Germany on December 28, 2007 as Moorhuhn DS, then in North America on March 4, 2008 by Mumbo Jumbo (Character) as Chicken Hunter. This version features a new set of bonus mini-games.
It received a smartphone port for iOS devices worldwide on November 3, 2009, where it is known as either Moorhuhn DeluXe or Crazy Chicken DeluXe: Grouse Hunting. Along with a HD version (known as Moorhuhn HD or Crazy Chicken HD), this version was later released for Android (Platform) devices and for Windows 8/RT devices on 2012.
It later received a high-definition remake, released digitally worldwide (as Moorhuhn X - Crazy Chicken X) by GeekPit Studio (Company) and Higgs Games (Company), released for the Nintendo Switch on August 25, 2022, for the PC (via Steam (Concept)) on October 8, 2022, for both the PlayStation 5 (Platform) and PlayStation 4 (Platform) on December 14, 2023.
