    Overview

For Honor is a third-person multiplayer arena-based hack-and-slash game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on February 14, 2017.

Set in a mysterious post-apocalyptic fantasy world, the game features a neverending conflict between three factions (each based on real-life medieval military): the Knights of the forests of Ashfeld, the Vikings of the tundra of Valkenheim, and the Samurai of the swamps of Myre.

    Gameplay

The game features a story mode, but it is heavily focused on its multiplayer including several multiplayer modes. In both cases, players will often fight their way through legions of enemy minions to accomplish their goals.

When fighting another named enemy, the "Art of Battle" system comes into play, where each fighter must choose one of three directions either to attack or to parry their opponent's attacks.

    Heroes

At the game's launch, each of the three factions received four heroes (one for each class type). More heroes and factions have been added post-launch.

For the Starter Edition for the PC version of the game, players start with six characters fully unlocked: the three Vanguard heroes and one of three groups of heroes (either Conqueror/Peacekeeper/Lawbringer, Warlord/Berserker/Valkyrie, or Shugoki/Orochi/Nobushi). The other six launch heroes are locked from play (similar to DLC heroes) and require a hefty sum to unlock.

    PvP

    • Duel (1v1) / Brawl (2v2) - Round-based tean elimination mode with no respawning. Teams win each round by eliminating their opponents. No feats, boosts, or AI minions.
    • Elimination (4v4) - Round-based elimination mode with no respawning. Teams win each round by eliminating their opponents.
    • Skirmish (4v4) - Deathmatch mode. Teams earn points by killing enemy Heroes and killing enemy AI minions, with the number of points impacted by fight conditions (for example, revenge kills adds more points while dishonorable kills adds less points). Once a team reaches the point threshold, the enemy team can no longer respawn. The last team standing wins the match.
    • Dominion (4v4) - Objective mode. Each battlefield has three "zones" that can be captured by either standing uncontested in it (zones A and C) or by pushing the front line of AI minions (zone B). Teams earn points by capturing zones (stealing enemy points if they captured it beforehand), maintaining captured zones over time, killing enemy Heroes, and killing enemy AI minions. Once a team reaches the point threshold, the enemy team can no longer respawn unless they bring the score below the threshold. The last team standing wins the match.
    • Tribute (4v4, added on November 14, 2017) - Objective mode. Teams fight over three Offerings scattered throughout the map. Players must pick up each Offering and carry them to one of the three Shrines located at their team's base. Each Offering gives team-wide buffs once they have been secured, and can be stolen by enemy players. The first team to secure all three Offerings at once, or the team with the most secured Offerings when the game timer expires, wins the match.
    • Breach (4v4, added on October 16, 2018) - Asymmetrical objective mode. The Attacking team, who have limited respawns, must escort a battering ram to breach two locations (the outer wall and inner gate), then defeat a powerful AI boss minion. The Defending team, who have unlimited respawns, must either prevent the Attacking team from completing their goals within the time limit or eliminate all Attackers.

    Maps

The game included 12 maps at launch, with additional maps added post-launch.
