The title was announced at Anime Expo 2015 after previously being on hold due to budgetary concerns. The title was developed by Chime and published by Spike Chunsoft for the PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and the PC in June 2016. Aksys Games published the Zero Time Dilemma in both America and Europe where it was released a few days before Japan on June 28, 2016, a first for the franchise.
