    Overview

Flamebreak is a top-down 2D action game where the player controls a hero on a quest to slay a god. Gameplay is split between an overworld map that borrows elements from FTL and arena based combat that is reminiscent of twin-stick shooters, albeit with a much greater emphasis on melee combat and cooldown regulated activated abilities like those found in MOBAs.

A large portion of the game is procedurally generated to promote replayability: heroes consist of a randomly assembled weapon, race, and 2 skills, the layout of each overworld map is randomized subject to various constraints, each combat arena's geometry and enemies are generated, the items available in shops are randomly selected from designated pools, and even the final region and boss for each run is selected from among 5 gods.
