The Spatials: Galactology is a simulation and management video game. It was released on Steam Early Access for Windows, Mac and Linux on July 7th 2016. It is the sequel of an earlier game, The Spatials.
The Spatials: Galactology blends classic base building with management, combat, research and exploration mechanics. Players begin the game with a crew of six redshirts, some money in the bank, a couple of slow tiny space ships, and an empty planet they call home. Providing shelter and meals is the first task to accomplish, and as such the player will need to design a colony station and get production started.
Visiting other planets becomes important when the meagre initial stocks start running low. Exporting resources from friendly planets, or invading hostile ones to get them by force, it's all in a days work in this corner of the galaxy.
After initial production and extraction is set up it's time to expand. Researching new technologies will be vital to success. Officers will become more experienced the more they work on a task, and the player can promote them to unlock their potential, at the cost of specialization and more demands to satisfy. Selling excess production will become very important once the initial cash is gone.
Eventually players can meet six different civilizations and forge alliances with them, welcoming their tourists (and their wallets) into the station. Or they can go to war for their resources and open themselves to raids and invasions in their allied planets.
