Overview
After more than a decade since the release of Skyrim, Bethesda Game Studios returns to the world of Nirn for the sixth mainline entry in The Elder Scrolls series.
Development
The game, and a short teaser, was officially revealed by Todd Howard at the Bethesda E3 2018 Showcase, June 10, 2018. No details other than the short video was given.
On June 11, 2018 Howard was interviewed by Geoff Keighley and shed some more information:
- The game is currently in pre-production, which usually means concept art, high concept plan, prototypes, and so on. The game is currently not in a playable state.
- No release date or timeframe was given, but it will be launched after another title by Bethesda Game Studios: Starfield.
- Howard said in a previous interview that the technology in the current platforms (PS4 and Xbox One) were not enough for their plans, and in this interview stated that we would "soon be there", hinting that TESVI would be released on next generation consoles.
In a August 2023 interview on Spanish website Vandal, Pete Hines confirmed that game had moved from pre-production to "early development".
