Acid Flip is a game developed by a sole developer primarily for Windows pc. The game started development in 2015 and releases in early access on February the 26th 2019. The premise of the game took it's foundation from the prevalence of various 'asset flips' that were becoming an issue on the steam platform. The idea was to take the term asset flip and turn it into something else. Instead of merely repackaging store bought assets, the game would take these assets and drastically transform them into an original, interesting and engaging game. The game was submitted to Steam Greenlight in early 2016 and was met with a lot of negative feedback. the game was shunned for it's unoriginal presentation and for appearing as an asset flip itself. From this feedback it was clear that the original intent had failed. The similarity of the look to existing assets was too close and so the game went back to the drawing board for a radical overhaul of the art style. After all this work put into it, it was later re-submitted to steam greenlight and was approved by the community in June 2016. After being approved, development continued quietly until it was ready for early access.
The game features a unique gameplay element of being able to flip local gravity. The player must collect 'Antacids' to disable the barriers to make progress through the game. On the way to collect these 'Antacids', the player must content with various monsters, called 'Xombies', by either running away, or leading them to and area where the player can safely 'flip them off'. The challenge of this process is the fact that when the player flips gravity, it flips for the player too. If the player is not safely underneath an appropriate ceiling or bus shelter, or any object above them, they will fly up into the sky along with the enemy. Naturally, when they come back down again they will die. As players successfully dispatch the Xombies, they will accrue points. the points will also be multiplied based on how many Xombies are killed at each point in time. Competitive players will be able to use this part of the game to get higher and higher scores.
