AI War 2 is the sequel to AI War: Fleet Command, and is predominantly a modern reboot of the original title. Improvements and refinements have been made to many aspects of the first game including: a switch from 2D to 3D graphics, a rewritten core engine with multithreading for modern performance, deep modding capabilities using easy to use xml, a redesigned UI, extensive voice acting, streamlined gameplay that increases accessibility, and a more vibrant galaxy featuring a number of optional factions.
The gameplay remains largely similar to that of the original: a grand strategy RTS with asymmetric AI and a focus on macromanagement rather than micromanagement.
The game is currently in Early Access but is in a very playable state. The biggest missing feature of the Early Access build is multiplayer. The game is being developed in a multiplayer friendly way so the core engine already has most of the functionality required but due to the game constantly evolving, multiplayer is going to be enabled nearer the end of the Early Access period, prior to the 1.0 launch.
