    Overview

NBA 2K2 is a realistic basketball game developed by Visual Concepts and published by Sega for the Dreamcast (on October 24, 2001), PlayStation 2 (on January 12, 2002), Xbox (on February 27, 2002), and GameCube (on March 20, 2002). The third installment (and the first multi-platform installment) of the NBA 2K franchise, NBA 2K2 covers a customizable 2001/2002 NBA season while adding a new Fantasy Mode (where every player in the season is put into the drafting pool, instead of just newcomers) and more famous street courts from around the United States.

The cover athlete of NBA 2K2 is Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers, who remains the cover athlete for the series until ESPN NBA 2K5.
