Overview
The icicle is a stalagmite of frozen liquid, usually water ice, which hangs from the area from which its liquid form dripped. Often water-ice icicles are very transparent, this is due in part to the liquid water acting as a smoothing agent upon the frozen water ice it runs over.
While beautiful, these formations are often dangerous and potentially fatal. Games will often use the icicle as a weapon or an environmental threat, and still more will use them as a visual accent for a frigid scene.
