M1911

The M1911 is a prominently featured pistol in many shooters. It can be found in every World War II related game which involves American forces. The 1911 often plays the part of the "bruiser" pistol, which deals a lot of damage at the cost of having a small (usually 7 round, although 8 round magazines are widely used) magazine. It fires a 45 caliber round, which is highly effective against unarmored foes. It is often favorably compared to smaller rounds such as the 9mm Parabellum in terms of damage and reliability in combat. 
 
Although the 9mm round is faster and more effective against armored targets, the .45ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) round deals better with unarmored opponents. The M1911 has evolved over the years, new models with double action capabilities and double stacked magazines have been produced, making the M1911 the choice of many competition shooters in the United States. While the M1911A1 has been replaced by the Beretta M9, elite units like Delta Force and Marine Force Recon still favor the M1911's design over the more modern and complex designs that today's weapons have to offer.
 
The standard M1911A1 features low profile blade sights, short grip safety, short slide release, wood grips, spurred hammer and a short trigger. The M1911 also shares these features but the frame has been cut more roughly around the trigger guard, and the mainspring housing is not an arched type, among other differences. Modern variations like the one featured in Modern Warfare games have a mixture of M1911 and A1 parts, and a lot of custom match parts as well. These include Novak's three dot sights, 3 hole match trigger, oval skeletonized hammer, extended ambidextrous thumb safeties, beavertail grip safety, stainless steel barrel with inside threading for a suppressor, light brown (may be plastic or wood) grips, stainless steel barrel bushing, A1 style frame, M1911 style mainspring housing, and a slide with 45 degree cocking serrations on the front and rear. Magazines appear to have Wilson Combat baseplates but could be another brand. With these features the Modern Warfare M1911 .45 resembles a factory Springfield Armory Loaded 1911 in .45 ACP, but the gun lacks any trademarks on the slide(probably due to brand name infringements)so there's no sure way of telling.
 
Some games also have completely custom M1911s, such as Metal Gear Solid 3 and Metal Gear Solid 4. This particular M1911A1 features custom-made parts that are almost impossible to find in real life. Naked Snake/Big Boss/John calls it the best handgun he's used. All the parts resemble some of the popular ones found on factory made 1911s but a close inspection suggests otherwise.
