     I don't even know where to begin - they acknowledge that it's just the PC equivalent parts of what's rumoured to be inside the new console and that the latter would likely have better optimised software and run a lot better.

    Then they do a comparison of multiplatform games against the 360 version and their wii 2. It's basically a Medium-Spec PC vs Xbox comparison video and they're trying to pass it off as something that might be informative in any way.

    Digital Foundry would not approve. Shockingly hack journalism at it's most glaringly obvious.

    It's just view whoring. It's not informing anyone or giving anyone any ideas about how games will run on the next console. But whatever, some people like these sorts of things and it is produced pretty well.


    Also, E3 is like 3 weeks away, why bother speculating. Just blink and we'll be playing/seeing the real thing anyway.

    IGN stated in the post that the PC they built was based entirely off of speculation from sources.  Seems like a fun side-article to me.  Not sure why one would conclude that this was suppose to be informative.

    that's the tech next gen consoles are gonna use? 1 GB of RAM? a 4850 GPU?

    i thought consoles are supposed to have cutting edge tech at least for the first 6 months-year of their release date, not have dated parts on day 1.. i can't recall, but wasn't the X360 a pretty powerful machine back in 05?

    I thought it was entertaining. Why not speculate a little bit? The fact that their mockup version ran at a full 1080p was intriguing.

    Or at least it would be if they even had a clue as to what chipset was in that thing. The vague series number they have for the GPU has a huge range that could mean anything. 

    I fully expect the Wii 2 to run multiplatform games at 1080p60FPS as standard - it's the only thing that would convert some of the entrenched 360/PS3 userbase away, if they really are aiming for that demographic that is. However, I don't think that video addressed anything in an in depth or particularly informative way.

    @Vitor: That was a nice article. Most of the stuff they mentioned I already knew. I really don't think the next Nintendo console will be that much more powerful than the Xbox 360 or PS3, but Nintendo has proven with the Wii that power and graphics aren't everything. Maybe they see the timing is right and the technology is now cheap enough to go HD but still make a profit on their new console much like they did with the Wii. The biggest question is the new controller. I can't wait to see it during E3.

    I really don't care what the video game core audience thinks about Nintendo the Wii or whatever floats their boat. I know I like Nintendo products and that's good enough for me.

    As for the IGN video, mindless fun. That's what I got out of it.

    Thought it was a fun bit of speculation. People just hate because it's IGN. If Giantbomb did this I bet you wouldn't hear any complaints (from around here at least).

    It was interesting.  Obviously the new console will be optimized and games will be optimized to the optimized console (optimize is the word of the day) so this system will be no where near as good as the real system.  But it was still interesting.  Of course, on this site, it has to do with IGN and, therefore, a good number of people will automatically hate it.

    In all honesty how much in terms of graphic power do you need for nintendo games? Look at Mario Galaxy. That game looks amazing and it's not even at 1080 nor with latest graphic hardware. I think whatever they're planning on using/ doing with that console it will be fine enough for nintendo and fine enough for 3rd parties to shell out more shitty games on.
