Wii U
Platform »
The Nintendo Wii U, the follow-up to the monstrously popular Nintendo Wii console, launched in North America on November 18th 2012.
Wii U Arrives in United States on November 18
There's something seriously wrong when your exclusives on a next gen system look objectively worse than the ports from the current gen. What the actual fuck.
Holy shit did anyone else catch the Tekken TAG Tournament 2 WiiU Edition having the power up mushroom from Mario? lmfao, serious fighting game.

Seriously? Bayonetta is the thing that makes people going from "I dont give a shit" to " OMG DAY ONE" ? Really?
Bayonetta has a strong following and if i wasn't already buying it and was on the fence, this would of sold me. But i could say the same thing about Halo, I don't care for it and wouldn't buy a console for it but millions do. And yeah Bayonetta isn't as huge but it does have it's followers.
I did not want to shit on the game. I just cant get the mentality that makes people spend 300 - 350 dollars because of a single game. And most of the commenters were not even on the fence they did not have any interest at all. And to go from 0 interest to " I will buy one at launch" because of a single game is baffling to me.
I would have said the same if it was Halo.
Did you buy a 360/PS3 or any other console at launch? How did it feel spending $300+ on a console at launch with 0 good games? How is that any different?
Not a great showing, but I'm still gonna be there day one. I did get a bit annoyed when Reggie talked about "launch window" games, because who even knows what that entails anymore. Super disappointed Pikmin 3 wasn't in the "for sure launch ready" category along with Nintendoland and NSMB U.

That's Activision for you.
@rebgav: Yeah it's always been kinda stupid but not Smash Bros Items level of stupid for whats been a more traditional fighting game.
I would love another Bayonette, but I'm not buying a machine just for that one game. And it's nice that they have some exclusives, but what happens in a year or so when all their multiplatform games start to look terrible in comparison to the rest of the new gen systems? And what the hell kind of storage is 32 gb? I know that the launch of the 360 had a sku without a hard drive, and even the sizes of the the ps3 drives weren't enormous, but the landscape of gaming has changed considerably since then, and realistic storage solutions need to be available. Does the WiiU support plain old USB drives and SD cards? The speed isn't as good, but at least it would be a cheap way to boost your storage capacity

Man I kind of bought the 3DS for myself and my brother because I felt sorry for Nintendo but I just can't do it anymore. So long Nintendo, looking forward to seeing your games on the next Playstation and Xbox.
Not sure if anyone has said this to you yet, but you're a grade A lunatic.

Welp, Warriors Orochi 3, Ken's Rage 2, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms XII are all coming to Wii U.
Take my money, Nintendo.
Yeah heard about Ken's Rage 2 as well, I am really looking forward to how they're going to implement the Wii U version.
@Brandino: Not really, I would love them to make games and continue with all their intellectual properties but they need to stop embarrassing themselves in the console market falling behind constantly in quality and support from developers. Im well aware that the Wii sold well but it doesn't make it a good console. That is my opinion and nobody will change it.
God dammit Nintendo, up until now I had no reason to buy a Wii U. Now you say a sequel to Bayonetta, one of the best games this generation as far as I'm concerned, is a Wii U exclusive?
Well fuck you, take my wallet. You assholes.

Nope I did not buy one at launch. I would never buy a console at launch.
To be clear I am not saying dont buy the Wii U. I am just saying, that if you think the console is overall not interesting to you, dont change your mind because of one game. What if the game turns out to be crap?
For the first time since 1996, Nintendo has made me somewhat hype for a console. Though, I guess that's more of a testament to my love for Bayonetta than any loyalty to Nintendo. Fortunately, I doubt Bayonetta 2 is going to come out anytime soon, so I'll probably be able to catch it at the first price drop.

Any word on Australian pricing yet? $300 Aus is what I'll pay for it and not a cent more.
While I applaud you making a stand, I regret to inform you that only after several years and numerous price drops will you be able to buy a Wii-U.
...Then again look on the bright side, this whole thing could tank badly and you might be able to grab one in a year for $50 :)
I assume you'll not be installing games onto the hard drive? Eh... I'll wait until it drops in price next year.

@Balex1908: Why do you even care? Who gives a shit if someone thinks one game is enough to justify a console purchase? Is them buying it directly impacting your life? Are you the one paying for it?
People will seriously complain about anything and everything.
I am not complaining, I hoped someone would explain to me why one game is all it takes to justify a console purchase.
Also sorry for trying to have a conversation, it seem on the internet you should only discuss things that have an impact on your life...so basically nothing that is on the internet.
Kind of shocked they didn't go for a $250 price point. I mean what's this thing got going for it, really? NintendoTVii looked really neat, but I have something similar built into my TV already. The latest New Super Mario Bros. actually does look like a lot of fun, and I'm glad they're catering more to the hardcore crowd, but it's not $350 bucks worth of fun. Bayonetta 2 was a surprising and promising announcement, but I have to wonder if this is the start of a new direction in publishing for Nintendo or just a gimmick to draw in core players.
Anyways, $350 bucks (or even $300) for that thing is just an absurd asking price. I could buy 5 or 6 games for the prices they're asking, or I could buy this current-gen platform with a tablet controller that, because of its comparatively weak specs, will probably be all but irrelevant in a year and a half.
In addition to an even more deluxe package that comes with a Pro controller and a copy of Monster Hunter Ultimate, anyone who buys the premium version of the console also gains an invite to the beta for Dragon Quest X.
Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest. I'd say that means that at worst it'll sell decently in Japan.

Because materialism.

Bayonetta 2 is a Wii exclusive, way to kill your franchise!
Didn't they go to the previous publisher SEGA asking to do another one and turned down. Being one of the big exclusives for a new console early on can do good things for it. And despite being a fantastic game, the first one didn't sell as well as it deserved.

Wii was a great console for me. It's all opinions.
I along with most people buy nintendo for first party games and Wii delivered on that. Pandoras Tower, Xeno, Last Story, Galaxy 1+2, the 2 zelda games, Mad World, Epic Yarn etc.
