The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.

Anyone actually buy those crappy $20 games??

Does anyone actually buy those crappy $20 games?  Like pool or whatev?  BTW this doesn't include games like super monkey ball where the price went down. >_>

Anyway, I know I don't, but some of them might be interesting.  Who knows...

I was wondering this as well...I think the users of a game site are likely not the prime candidates to buy lame wii games though.

I once bought this cheap game from a supermarket for the PS2. It was like Battlefield but entirely in tanks, and some of the tanks could fly, and some could glide on water.
Good game actually, the multiplayer made it.

The gameplay of Mercury Meltdown Revolution is awesome. It was just very rough around the edges, i.e. there were modes described on the back of the box that were not implemented in game, like multi player.

Not completely sure what your question is due to your phrasing; are you asking who buys crappy $20 games, or who buys $20 games that are crappy?

Anyway, a good game is pretty much worth any price under $100. A bad game is not worth shit. Rules to live by.

Good rule of thumb is to check to name of the company that made it and distributes it.  If it isn't a name you are familiar with, then move on, it is probably shovelware - duplicate games with slight variations.  There is almost never a good game released at that price.

Well, although $20 Wii games are usually horrible, $20 budget titles are usually pretty dang good on portables, look at N+, Space Invaders Extreme and Patapon.

I saw a white trash family have a shopping cart full of the budget games. I really couldn't believe they were actually going to waste like $100+ dollars on these games

Just because a game gets released at a budget price, it doesn't mean that it's bad. Now, with the Wii there's a higher chance of the budget game turning out awful, but sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith on 'em. Reviews are generally slow to come out, so you need to put a little effort into finding out about them. Do a little research into what the developer has done before; sometimes it'll be a US release of a niche Japanese or European game that was released under a different title.

The mentality that "all budget games are crap" is what makes people miss out on gems like Katamari Damacy, Earth Defense Force 2, MLB Power Pros and Shepherd's Crossing. Also, Blast Works wasn't a budget title, it was just marked down (thankfully). Hopefully it'll make it more likely of an impulse purchase for more people.

A choice few games are actually supposedly quite good as some have mentioned. I don't have any myself but I remember when they were reviewed they did fairly well. Blast Works has, finally, the problem with Blast Works was that they released it initially at full price and it didn't sell, then they slashed the priced to budget and it has made very good sales since.

The cheapest retail game I bought for the Wii was Okami... $40 originally, but I got it for $30.  I have yet to buy a budget title and I don't see any in the future worth getting.

Unless you count WiiWare, then it's different... but I always look for quality games.

Ugh, you guys know what he means, quit being smartasses.

Games like, Spy Games and Emergency Heroes (I'm pretty sure those are the names). There's some kind of mech game as well, and probably many others. The shovelware titles, basically. Parents buy them for stocking-stuffers I think, and I think that is their intention. You could say the companies are trying to rip people off, but considering they're budget priced, I guess they know they're just quick distractions.

I would never bother spending my hard earned cash on a piss poor game like those.
