I think the Wii is slightly less fail than Greenpeace so this is going to be one of the rare situations where I'm siding with the Wii.

The reason Nintendo gets such a low grade from Greenpeace (traditionally at least) is that they straight up don't give them any information on the production - armed with no information Greenpeace marks it down as the worst. There's nothing backing up any claims that Nintendo is actually the worst.

That's just silly.  There's no way in hell that the Wii would rate lower then the PS3 or XBOX 360.  More hz and more cores equals more power consumption.  This was proved to be true in idle/standby and performance modes by Choice Magazine almost two years ago.  Greenpeace are being dicks.

I'm snarky, bitter and acerbic about everything. If you went into topics that concerned something other than Nintendo, you'd probably see that. 
 
Of course people care about what interests them but to care about something as trivial and unrelated to the personal experience as energy consumption, that's just seems either obsessive or gimmicky, especially with a title which may as well just say 'Click for trollbait.'  As a person who has owned every console since the PSone besides the Dreamcast and PSP, I can't fathom why anyone would be interested in any of this stuff. Dead Rising is my favourite game of this generation but I don't care about its sales because I contributed 1 to that number and even if the sales dialed up as that solitary number, it wouldn't matter because I enjoyed it and that's how it should be unless you're a shareholder. Similarly, the Xbox 360 is my favourite console of this generation but you don't see me, or anyone else, making threads about every tiny trivial aspect of the news that comes up about it. Also, I don't think 'take the time' is the right turn of phrase to use. It's easy to skim read this stuff and only really becomes blankable when it reaches Al3xand3r's War and Peace level responses, similarly I'd say my read and response time is about 5 minutes at the most so it's not like I'm putting myself through effort. First of all, it wasn't my notion, I just posted it because a ton of people believed in it already, and it wasn't that it was looking great, but that there is seemingly more to it than could ever be noticed on 480p, but I guess you took a side and didn't want to lose it.  Great for you to have experience in the industry. This isn't new news by any means. Personally I don't think Nintendo even belong on the scale, the problem is that Nintendo provide pretty much no information to Greenpeace on the eco-friendliness of their product and in any category where somebody doesn't provide them with information Greenpeace give them a big fat zero. It could be that the production of the Wii is harmful to the environment, we just don't know, although I do think to a certain extent that Nintendo should be releasing this kind of information to the public in the interests of showing how eco-friendly they are. On the plus side I suppose at least we know the Wii uses less power than the Xbox 360 or PS3, even if this isn't by design.

I think if I wanted to save the environment I'd stop buying shit that's being flown in from China instead of looking at ways to feel better about doing something without doing something substantial.

As much as I dislike the Wii, I'm going to take its side here. Greenpeace is a piece of shit group which does more harm than good. The Wii is fine, get over it.

Peta and Greanpeace sway between eco terrorism and empty posturing. I don't remember the last time either organisation actually made a difference. The strategy seems to be to talk down to people until they want to change. Clearly its worked for them so far.
