Overview
An Action RPG with an open world setting. A free-to-play game with gacha elements. Built in Unreal Engine 4.
Setting
Set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic open world after a catastrophe called the Lament wiped out most of humanity and caused unknown beings and monsters to appear. However, humanity soon adapted to the threat and over time rebuilt civilization. The story follows the amnesiac Rover (either in feminine or masculine form, chosen by the player at the start), who has awoken from a deep slumber and sets out to explore this new world.
Gameplay
Similar to Genshin Impact and the new Zeldas there's an open world for Rover to, well, rove around in. After completing the first few story missions, Rover can run, jump, climb/wallrun up surfaces (with a stamina bar limiting their exertion in one go), use a glider to slow their ascent, a grappling hook to latch onto glowing orbs and access far-away ledges, or act as a double-jump function (with a cooldown) when no orbs are around, and the ability to levitate certain objects and throw them like grenades. The Player can have up to three Resonators in their Party at any time, and can switch between them as desired. The Party can be changed up at any time, except when certain missions or dungeons lock in selected Resonators.
Combat
Combat is done in real-time with players using their Resonators to attack, evade, or parry certain stronger enemies to stagger them. Each Resonator has a unique "Resonance Circuit" which effects how they are used in combat, in addition to their unique Skill, Liberation (ultimate attack), and weapon of choice. For example, the default Rover's Resonance Circuit involves collecting Sound Fragments through strikes and well-time evades, which are then consumed by using their Resonance Skill to summon a glowing sawblade that spins around them briefly in addition to an enhanced normal attack, which contributes further to gathering enough Resonance Energy to launch their Resonance Liberation, a powerful AoE attack that damages all enemies in a wide radius.
At present, Resonators specialize in 1 of 5 weapon types for use in combat:
- Sword
- Broadsword
- Pistols
- Gauntlets
- Rectifier
Though the Resonators do not change their weapon type, the player can choose which weapon within that type they collect to attach to the Resonator.
