Overview

Greatest Heavyweights is a Sega Genesis-exclusive boxing simulation game and the sequel to Evander Holyfield's "Real Deal" Boxing. Unlike the first game, players could now choose among a number of legendary heavyweight boxers from past and present, including Holyfield, in the game. The core game is the same—it still has the concept of big 2D sprites in a 3D rotational ring—only the game now has more modes. Instead of just a career mode, the game also has a tournament mode where the player can pick a legendary boxer and see if they can defeat the other legendary boxers in the game.

Fighters in the game include: Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield, Floyd Patterson, Rocky Marciano, Larry Holmes, Joe Frazier, Jack Dempsey, and Joe Louis. There's also a moderate number of fictional boxers with lesser stats, in case the player chooses to support an underdog.
