Overview

World Gone Sour is a comedic 2.5D puzzle-platforming advergame developed by Playbrains, in conjunction with Beefy Media, and published digitally by Capcom for the PC in North America on December 20, 2011, with releases on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 10, 2012.
Based on the sour sugar coated candy Sour Patch Kids, World Gone Sour puts players in the role of a lost green miniature Sour Patch Kid (or a blue one, for player two) who must make it through different human-sized environments, such as a movie theater, a kid's bedroom, and a garden shed, in order to take their rightful place inside a human stomach.
The game is known for its Pikmin-style system of directing and flinging smaller creatures (in this case being fellow Sour Patch Kids) in order to navigate each level and solve puzzles. Players can also fuse their Sour Patch Kid with their followers to become larger, giving them new abilities and making them tougher at the cost of not being able to fit through smaller spaces. The game is also known for its sometimes edgy humor, with bonus points for "sacrificing" followers to their deaths in multiple ways. for its use of actor/musician Creed Bratton as the game's often-cheeky narrator, and for its licensed theme song "World Gone Sour (The Lost Kids)" by Method Man.
It were later delisted from all storefronts on August 2015, making them unavailable to purchase.
Gameplay
World Gone Sour is a side-scrolling platformer. Similar to Pikmin, the game has you flinging your little sour friends into objects or combining with them in order to advance.
Sour Sacrifices
In each level, there are many ways to kill and be killed by harmful dangers in the levels. Many times, right above dangers are points and, in order to get them, other Sour patch kids must be flung into them as a sacrifice. But don't worry, they come back.
There are Eight different kinds of Sacrifices
- Sliced
- Drowned
- Exploded
- Burnt
- Flung
- Melted
- Skewered
- Squashed
Levels & Bosses
The game includes three sets of three levels each, for a total of nine levels. Each section also has a boss battle, with a fourth final boss battle at the end of the game.
- Cinema - The boss is Semi-Squished, a monstrous wad of gum with a shoe on top of it who is being controlled by a lost Blue Sour Patch Kid.
- Girl's Room - The boss is Dolly-Doll, a horrific doll being possessed by a lost Yellow Sour Patch Kid.
- Shed - The boss is Pump-Kind, a rotten pumpkin being flown by a Purple Sour Patch Kid.
Afterwards, they fight against the Red Friend, a lost Red Sour Patch Kid who was fought multiple times as a mid-boss before one final boss fight (where they pilot a tank).
