After the 48 hour stream I've been wanting to jam some wind. Does anyone know of a way to play Windjammers without doing it the hard way? Who owns the rights to windjammers? Why hasn't it been released on current consoles yet?
Who else wants a re-release of Windjammers?
I am anxiously awaiting the announcement from Dave Lang that Iron Galaxy has bought the US rights to Windjammers and a new game set in the Divekick universe will be released Summer 2014.

@nightriff: IIRC Jeff is playing on a Neo Geo home console (AES) with a Windjammers MVS arcade cart. You can also obtain it on a Neo Geo CD. I sadly don't know enough about the Neo to say whether or not the debug/multi-regional settings that Jeff uses is particular to a certain version.

I'd be interested in this only if it includes authentic Jeff Ai I can play against. Assuming the ps4 or xbone is capable of such a feat.
If Iron Galaxy or some other studio that the GB crew is familiar with ever gets the rights to do something like that, I really hope they consider doing that. Base the computer's AI routines on Jeff's actual gameplay style. That'd be pretty cool for those of us who are "in the know".

So ... as a student project I created a 2-4 player competitive sports game similar to Windjammers and FIFA and I thought you guys might be interested in checking it out. Be warned though, it is still really early and is in development.
It's called GHARGE! and it's currently being developed by myself only haha. It originated as a school project at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, for my "Building Games" course where we are attempting to learn Unity and some game development strategies.
Anyways, the game! It requires 2-4 Xbox 360 controllers to be hooked up BEFORE loading the game. Unity games have a problem with the way it recognizes controllers, and I'm not really sure why. You use the left stick to control movement and the A button for everything else. When you press A without holding the disc you dive a set distance. When holding the disc and a direction with the left stick you throw the disc in that direction. In all game modes you can traverse past the middle line to shoot the disc or to attempt to steal the disc from your opponent(s). When you shoot the disc and score from your half of the court you score 3 points, and from your opponent's court you score 1 point.
I'm still working on it but I would like to see what some other people think, apart from my colleagues and classmates.

@snail: Here's a link to a Mac version. No guarantees if it works, because I haven't tested it. You'll probably have to reconfigure the controls. FireXA is the button where X is the player number. I appreciate you looking at it! Hope you enjoy!
