@brackstone: I had initially wrote off The New Order as a generic Nazi killing game, but the story is so much more and better than that. I loved the characters and the way they tackle real hard issues. The dialogue between J and BJ made me legit uncomfortable, but not because it was poor, shlocky writing but because it felt like a real moment describing real issues.

I have absolute faith the writing in The New Colossus will make me uncomfortable in the same way.

My guess is that it'll make shooting Nazis even more enjoyable. I highly doubt they'll edit the game in any way.

Give it another weekend before writing this idea off. If the nazis show up in large numbers at 9 different rallies as reported to be planned (with violence/deaths at several) AND the president supports/tolerates them, things in the US could get to a point where it is hard to release the game.

Didn't think that was possible last Friday, but here we are.

A better question would be "will recent events affect the livelihood of this thread?" because there is no way this doesn't end up eventually locked.

I'll parrot others though: nothing will get changed at the very least, and I would say if anything it will be celebrated even more because of current events.

People really ought to stop empowering hate groups by calling them Nazis.

How is calling a white supremacist a Nazi empowering?

I hope they don't change anything. I am so ready to kill me some virtual Nazis.

After today's speech, I wouldn't be surprised if they added a certain orange cameo from the alt-reich.

I feel like the only thing that could come from recent events in wolfenstein would be a doubling down. From E3 footage and interviews it seems they were really ahead of the curve on the whole KKK+Nazis in the US thing. I feel like the themes and message is going to resonate with current events much better than Farcry 5 for example.

I really freakin hope not. I can't stand the reaction recent events incite into changing things in our media.

I do not think this game is gonna pull any punches but I think it is too late in the development process for them to allude to recent events, even if they wanted to.

Just remember, that in Wolfenstein II that there's a lot of bad stuff "on many sides. on both sides".

If the authors have any sense of creative integrity, hopefully not. That said Wolfenstein seems like it's going for something a little too edgy this time, so who really knows.

At any rate, I consider historical Nazis completely distinct from modern posers who try to hijack the name & symbols for notoriety. Both bad, but totally different levels and flavors of such - they can never be seriously compared, let alone in a video game.

I'll likely just stick to Call of Duty: WW2 and play an American/Brit/Russian killing Germans; probably some Japanese, maybe some Italians, which really cuts to the truth behind all this politicization.

Young folks caught in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and indoctrinated with the wrong ideas. Shoot 'em all anyway! Unless they're civilians, of course... that's what strategic bombing is for

I think it's more that they are Nazis as well.

This made me LOL but then feel more shame afterwards.

Folks, they came with guns and they were exploding people's heads over there, I saw it.

    Hell yeah. Love this comment.

Seriously fuck nazi scum. I hate that they just walk around like they own the place and destroy property of anybody. They just want to cause more divisive and violet rhetoric.
