    World in Conflict puts the player into a Cold War scenario in which the Soviets mount a full scale invasion on Europe and America.

    I need help with this game, it won't open!

    I just bought the game off play-asia, and installed it. It opens, the screen goes black and i see my desktop again!
    As for fixes, I've tried:

    • Patching it (1.000 to 1.0009 or something)
    • A no-cd
    • turning it off and on again
    • Changing my resolution to 800x600 and my sound acceleration to basic (suggested by Activision)
    Oh, and in case it matters, my PC is:
    • 8800GT
    • e6550 @ 3ghz
    • 2gb 800mhz
    • P5N-E SLI mobo (ASUS)
    • 24" Acer monitor @ 1920x1200
    Pleas help!

    Is it possible bad that I'm using that hacked driver for physics support? I'm downgrading to a normal one now.

    If you're still having problems you could try:

    World in Conflict - Crash to Desktop During Video
    WiC has a habit of crashing during FMV sequences, a solution to this problem is to go into the WiC folder (C:\Users\Username\Documents\World in Conflict)
    Double click Game Options, Change the numbers after MyFSAA to 0 and MyMaxFPS to 60
    Do NOT Enable Anti-Aliasing, this can cause the game to freeze with a black screen at start or crash 2-5 minutes into the game.

    Not my solution so I can't guarantee anything. You can also have a look at this thread on the issue over at massgate for a different solution:

    You sure vista will fix it? Oh, and Big_Fact_Hunt, your solution kind of fixed it. It will now get past intro but I can't play it. It will crash to desktop if I try to play it in any way! :(
