World Masters Golf
A European-exclusive golf game for the SNES, and one of the few of the genre to makes heavy use of the system's Mode 7 graphical effects.
Overview
World Masters Golf is a golf simulation game developed by Arc Developments and published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Platform) exclusively in Europe on November 23, 1995.
From the studio behind Nick Faldo's Championship Golf and World Cup Golf, World Masters Golf features four courses (Aldan Forest, Cranfield Lakes, Marston Beach, and Victoria Plains) to play from. Each course presents its own quirks and challenges: Marston Beach is filled with sand traps, while Cranfield Lakes presents a problem with constant water hazards.
While the game is mainly presented in the standard behind-the-back style of the time, it also makes use of the system's Mode 7 (Concept) graphical effects, including an overhead view of the course (both for following shots and for reading the course), an overhead view of the green for putting, and a dynamic 3D aerial camera for following long drives.
