By no means the greatest, but still a lot of fun!

When WWE Crush Hour was released, WWE was still a very big deal.  Their top talent (Such as The Rock, RVD, Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, Kane) were still around and in wrestling capacity, and they all made it into this game.  I think what was so exciting about this game was that it was finally an alternative to your straight-up pro wrestling games like The Smackdown! series, the WWE Vs. series, and the Legends of Wrestling series.  It was bizarre, no doubt about that, but it seemed like a good fit.  I don't think a lot of people played it, but that's OK, as it has cult appeal.

Mostly, WWE Crush Hour is a lot of fun for a wrestling fan.  It took away a lot of the annoyances of a game like Twisted Metal, but it introduced a few new ones to make up for that.  The levels are a little small, but they are unique, and fun to hide and wait in.  The weapons are funny, but once you learn the locations for your favorite (Probably the Twisty Rockets), you'll just camp out and wait to get more of them.

The single player "Tournament" mode is fun to play through, but the final boss is quite annoying (Vince McMahon) and frustrating to beat.

The multiplayer mode is fun for a short time, but with split screen, it is much too hard to hide from the other player, and it's not much of a challenge for either player.  It usually becomes a cat and mouse game in the end.

I think what will stick with me the most about this game, sadly, is the horrible bugs in the voice acting.  It was great to hear the recorded phrases by the wrestlers (Each wrestler had 5 at most), such as "Rest in Peace", and Ric Flair's "You either like it or love it, but you LEARN to love it".  Where it goes wrong is laughably bad, because if you keep shooting someone, he'll keep repeating that long line over and over.  The bugs, however, are more frequent with certain characters.  Every time Ric Flair says "Whooo!" in the game, it becomes "Wh-Who-Whoooo-Whooooo!".  Something went very wrong in the process of finishing this game.

There are bugs, and there are difficulty spikes and things that will aggravate you (Such as constantly falling "Off" of a level), but it's still a fun game.  It's worth a play if you are a current or former wrestling fan who also appreciates deathmatch-style car combat.  It was a fun experiment, and a nice alternative to the standard pro wrestling games that were being cranked out so frequently in it's time.
