Jeff Hardy would've used his drug money to buy this game. 0

The situation with our annual wrestling video games seems to mirror the wrestling scene in reality. Every year, Yukes, THQ and the Fed pump out their annual Smackdown vs. Raw title, rudely telling the fans what features they want to see implemented (like last year’s tag team system, in spite of the WWE’s general lack of tag teams.) All the while, they ignore the existing flaws of the series and thus release a similar product year after year. Kind of like the weekly television and their rehashe...

BIG improvement over the last couple of years 1

I will go into this review saying I am a big wrestling fan, so my review is biased in that way. If you don't know a back breaker from a spine buster, your take on this game will be much different.   If you've played the previous Smackdown vs Raw games, you know generally what to expect. The action in this game is very comparable to last years installment, but it's all the little things they've added in that make 2010 shine.   The modes are pretty much the same as last year: Exhibition, Road to W...

Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 barely disappoints 0

WCW/NWO Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000, and WWF No Mercy; if these titles create a warm feeling in your heart, then WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 could be the game for you, as long as you're able to take a few leaps backwards in quality for some portable nostalgia. When THQ created their wrestling line on N64, they effectively created a new genre within fighting games. They offer ed deep customization absent in arcade-style button-mashers, and the spirit/attitude meter changed health i...

A Superb Title for Wrestling Fans! 0

Anyone who knows me knows that I love and adore three things: video games, movies and pro wrestling. So perhaps my review of Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 is from a fanboy perspective. But I’d like to think that despite being a rabid fan of the sport I can also look at the game objectively. Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 left fans incredibly disappointed but thankfully Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 redeemed the franchise. In fact, I liked Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 so much that I proclaimed that it was the best pro wres...

    Still has many problems. 0

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 picks up exactly where last year’s edition left off, adding new features such as a Storyline Designer and more, which makes it seem like it could be the best wrestling game ever. Unfortunately, some of the problems that have plagued the series for years are still present in SmackDown 2010, which largely makes it difficult to recommend if you already have last year’s game. Maybe I just don’t get why other people buy wrestling games. I’ve heard stories that people buy th...

Another year another clunky wrestling game 0

The smackdown vs raw series has been around for quite some time now. The very first one hit the PS2 back in the year of 04. Ever since then THQ and Yukes has had quite the roller coaster of a ride with this series. It is like they can't make up their minds sometimes. One year they add things, the next year they strip them away for new things, and the year after that they might even take away all of those things for and entirely new thing that may or may not work. Last years edition was all about...

In serious need of an overhaul. 0

WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2010 marks the tenth entry into Yukes’ annual wrestling franchise. It’s a series that has progressed painfully little in its ten year history, and the latest iteration is no exception. Criticisms of the series in the past stem mainly from the games’ inability to recreate the feeling of the WWE television shows, and instead attempts to create an experience that legitimises what is essentially a fake sport. And this year you’ll find no remedy to that problem.

One of the key...

Steps In The Right Direction 0

Smackdown vs Raw 2007-2010 have been been pretty worthless beyond a rental.  Even as a huge wrestling fan, I found the games to be ultimately disappointing.   Smackdown vs Raw 2010 is a step in the right direction.   Lots of complaints about previous versions were addressed and there are some new good ideas.  But, in the end there is still room to improve. The game is being promoted for its CAW system.  It's not quite as different as some of the previews would have you believe, but, it is defini...

    More of the Same 0

Another year, another Yuke's developed WWE game. The bar has been set really with THQ's outstanding --- albeit difficult as all heck --- UFC title. Can THQ finally have their WWE game clean up all of their assorted flaws and bugs. For starters, the clipping is back and depressing. I used to be forgiving, but UFC, which has markedly more grappling, had very little clipping. It is no longer excusable to have this problem, but SD v RAW 2010 still has it in spades. Other than that, the game l...
