I've just been like a kid in a candy store full of drugs in the avatar marketplace. Everything I saw was so cool except for the crappy skater stuff. The gears cog outfits and bioshock stuff stood out for me as I didn't know they where gonna be in the update. Anyway with my jaw constantly being dropped by awesomeness I forced myself to buy 2000 points. I got the obi wan tunic for 320, the halo red beret for 80 and I just had to complete it all off with the lightsabre for 400. I feel kinda stupid for forking over 800 points for some digital threads, but hey my avatar is now so cool I'm falling in love with my digital self :D Did anyone else give in to Microsofts overpriced trinkets?
after shouting at my friend on friday telling her ill disown her if she gives in to buying silly avatar items....i sat there in wonder as i considered buying bioshock/cog/clone clothing.... i dont think I will be able to hold out for the whole day
I bought a lot of stuff from the Steampunk section, a lightsaber and a cult of rapture tee. Pretty nice actually, won't be buying anything else for a while though.
I'd rather spend those points on something that I can actually use; like the Gorrilaz track pack on Rock Band that was released today... that sounds like a much better investment than some "cool" threads.
Personally speaking, if any of my friends saw that I'd paid for that avatar crap, they'd mock the hell outta me for doing so... I have no idea what I would gain from getting them.
And if people want to send the message that you don't want this kind of bullshit, I advise you do exactly the same. These pieces of Avatar clothing take little more than one person a relaxed afternoon to produce, don't pay them ANY money for that, it's insulting.

I already have a hard time having the money to buy all the games I want. I'm not going to waste money buying stuff for my avatar that people will only see for a few seconds at best.
i dunno, i don't think it's that big a deal to spend money on digital clothing, if it makes you happy, it's about as worthwhile as buying a few chocolate bars.

Way to go. You could have bought a cool game but you decided to spend that money on a virtual barbie accessory. You're just sending the message to these companies that it is ok for them to bend you over and enjoy your backside.
There's some kind of interesting stuff in there but I'm still finding myself very reluctant to actually pay to customise my 360 Mii look-alike. The only thing I've bought for my avatar so far was a Halo 3 shirt for 80 points.
It's beyond me why people will yell at people for buying avatar clothing...why does it matter at all..it's not your money, and you are not forced to buy anything..it's simple just don't buy it and let people who want it buy it.
no, i just think that it is a waist of money to buy that kind of stuff. microsoft just wants people's money. i find there is no use for avatars at all. u just see them when the 360 just turns on.
The market place is in place, if you don't buy that stuff, eventually you will get it for free by unlocking it within games. Trust me. Even if that doesn't happen, don't buy it anyway. Give your money to me instead. I'll spend it on something real. Like toilet paper.
I had 100 points left and I was looking at a couple of things. Then I realized most of the free stuff looks good anyway. Then I used the leftover points to buy a song off the Zune marketplace. Then I listened to that song. Then I was glad I didn't pay to spruce up my digital self.
