Blast you to a fiery burning hell.  Why Can't you make a gaming system that works!!!  I still have a year left on my RROD protection, so of course, the freaking dvd drive goes out!  Seriously what Am I supposed to do now?!  100 dollar to MS to fix it, 180 to walmart for a new arcade.  If I go with the arcade I lose my black case, and silver drawer, but I get a much cooler running, lower power, system, that is much less likely to fail.  Or 40 dollars and I can try to repair it myself, but then if I fail MS won't fix it.  If I repair it, or MS fixes it I just know it's going to die again.

If I get a new one what do i do with the dead system

Yes I own one, how does that help make half my game collection playable again.  If i wanted to play singstar, or haze I'd whip it out, but i want RPG
s and I want them now.

Weird. My DVD drive also went out. I recommend fixing it yourself by buying a drive online instead of sending it in. You'll save 50%. So far I have NOT been banned of Xbox Live since I fixed it a month ago.

Go with the MS repair because you get a refreshed warranty.

Same thing happened to me I was beyond pissed off and if I hadnt invested so much in the Xbox 360 (40+ arcade games and over 120 retail games) I would have thrown it out the window. I am very hesitant about buying Microsoft products in the future.

Although if you only have a few games and are thinking about trading up for a PS3 it's up to you, friend of mine did that and never looked back, he's more than happy but I think he's a loonatic as all he ever plays are LBP and Folklore. I mean, I like those games too but I need more than just a couple of games to survive.

I believe we should all complain to MS because of this issue. My drive crapped out a few months ago.  Mine was still under warranty . They need to cover the damn thing for three years and cover EVERYTHING!!!!!
This crap is really getting old! I have a damn Sega CD from 1993 and it still works! What the hell is the problem MS?

MS Repair i love my elite, buyaaa although I would probably just get the Arcade, cheaper and I care more for the gaming then visual appearance of the console.

i would say get it repaired if u really want. u could also do this. get a hair drier, hair dry the warranty sticker and take it apart put the black casing on the arcade. then u would have an arcade that is like ur elite.
